Dr. Zhivago Day~

Spending time painting.I love it so!I am a bit concerned about my lack of exercise in winter..

Spring ,summer and fall..I don't worry because the gardens call regularly..as regularly as an exercise class.

I garden hard..not just watering 😏..although I must admit to not digging new gardens anymore and I would love one for my tomatoes. And a sweet pea bed♥

So I could grow Sweet Peas like Antonio Valente does.

I  finished up a blanket..I am so disappointed that I forgot to do 2 rows of the same color..like my last blanket..below..

I did one color after the other..not as pretty..:(
However, less than 2 years ago I did not know how to crochet.
But ..heck..
Let us be grateful for what we can do right?:)
Still so grateful to all who inspired me~I would have never tried without many of you..

Jacques even comments on how pretty the blankets are.I do think he saw them with a different eye when Oli wrapped himself in one..I had to admit that blanket never looked so good;)

The other thing I will do differently next time is have my picot edge a more vibrant color:)
The white/cream is not  contrast enough for me:)

I made those lovely Maple Muffins..the recipe I invented:)
But used Raisin Bran this time..tastes just as good~
My Organic Maple Flakes are available at my Canadian Costco:)

See ..the thing is..unlike climates that are much warmer..we in QC,hibernate a lot for 3 months..
See the front steps? me neither..but tomorrow Jacques will have them all done..
I have an appointment in the next town..appointments week.

I thank God every day that I have had hobbies..in more ways than one..
So..thank you God;)

Storm of the year  today..Sunday..as I tucked in all the wool stragglers on my blanket..

It's all done~
Until the next one~

I practiced a pie that is a perfect pie for Valentine's..I'll share it before.. if any of you want to make it.
It is not only my new "Pretty Pie"..it's a very very GOOD pie:)
Have a nice week~

  1. I do love the colors you use in the blanket. I'd like to follow you around on these snowed in days. I still haven't baked my cranberry tangerine loaf as I would eat it all. Our weather was miserable too this weekend. The sun is finally shining today. It makes me happy though I only went out to run errands. It has been awhile. I hope we'll get to see the blood wolf moon tonight and need to go put all my crystals outside for it. Better go. Donna@gather

    1. I don't mind these days..I told Jacques I bet many would stay in their pjs all day..especially people who go out to work..
I remember quite a few Open Houses in weather like this.
One..I left home and told Jacques..no one will come..
And he did and he bought.
And he was such a nice gentleman.

Do you do the Chakras too?

  3. I will be making that pie for Valentine's Day...our 20th anniversary :-)
Your crochet is lovely, and reminds me of my mom and grandma. They loved to crochet to stay busy.
My DIL moved to TX and just gave me her treadmill. I am desperate for exercise in the winter, and need to fit in a dress soon.
    Stay warm. xo

  4. I remember those snows in Dr. Shivago!! Yes, we had a big storm, many were snowed in...Not as powdery as the old fshioned snows that I miss, there were ice drops gusting and tapping on the window panes. How lovely that you crochet, especially in winter! And the wreath painting, Oh là là!!! Your delicacy with watercolors is a pleasure. Love how you integrated the afgan into other pleasures in your photos. A Little Something is on it's way to you.....

  5. Your blanket is so pretty, and I agree, it is very important to have creative outlets during the hibernation months! Our temperatures are more moderate here, but we still have to stay indoors due to seasonal allergies. Mountain Cedar is public enemy #1 this time of year. Some days are better than others, still, I too am worried about the lack of exercise. In all our travels, we have yet to find the perfect place to live. Too hot, too cold, allergies to mold and pollen - I sometimes wonder if it even exists!

    1. You certanily have been around:)Allergies can be debilitating..I feel for you..it's funny I never thought I would be smitten with granny squares and crochet..so granny right? Not us at all:)But I am.And yes thank goodness for reading and wiring and the means and ways to be able to create. Not everyone is so lucky..I see homeless people in Florida and really compared to here..I just don't know how people make it through the winter out here..homeless..A beautiful old hospital is being turned into a shelter.I was happy to read that.
Best use possible..Have a great week Ry:)

  6. You sure can see you have come a long way baby when it comes to your crocheting skills! The blankets are so pretty Monique, just like your watercolors. Not too much snow but ice because yesterday morning it rained and then the winds came. Trees sparkle with ice but would prefer not to see this, power lines coated too. Praying we make it through this cold snap with heat. Stay warm!

  10. The snow looks so beautiful and graceful. I love seeing the trees and branches draped with falling snow. Your blanket is beautiful. Only you would notice you missed a couple of color lines. Kudos to you for learning how to crochet within two years. You should feel proud. Enjoy your hobbies and be warm.

  13. We got about 5" of snow here Friday into Saturday. It will stay with us for a looooong time as we are going into a deep freeze this next week! I love your blankets! The one behind your Bramley Hedge teacup has all the same colors as the cup ♥ Those muffins! I have to go and find the recipe... I'll bet maple flakes are something that only your Canadian Costco sells but I will look. Are the maple flakes a Kirkland brand cereal? I bookmarked that pie as soon as I visited on IG. So pretty! I'll bet Antonio will love your watercolor. Didn't you make another one of him also? It's MLK Day here and we have Dane. We painted together this morning ♥

  16. I adore your pretty blanket, the sweet, sweet cup and of course, that wonderful painting. We are all hibernating in the north here, I think. I know I'm getting a cup of tea as soon as I wrap up comments! Today I filed things and wrote letters -- real letters to go out tomorrow with a stamp! And read. And baked a little crumb cake. All cozy. Life is good -- but it sure is cold!

  18. Dear Nana, I see that you have occupied your time in a very rewarding way, painting, backing and knitting.
I loved your new blanket and it looks perfect as it is, but of course we try to always improve our work with new shapes, new patterns and new colors.
I must confess that I do not want to knit more blankets because I have enough. At this moment I'm still kniting sweaters, maybe this one is the last of this winter.
It's cold here, it rains and the wind is strong- don't forget I live very close to the sea-but it does not snow, which I regret, because I love a snow-covered landscape.

A necessity:) I wonder what people w/out hobbies do?I remember meeting an aquainatnce at a library and she told me she never liked reading..and never would..not in those words..but that was the essence of our conversation.I hope inside myself that she would never be housebound..with something that left her non mobile..we never know what life has in store..I think it's a good thing to have a little hobby:)Have a beautiful day!

  21. We had a Sweet Pea Bed when we lived in the cottage down in Kent. It was my pride and joy! Such beautiful flowers. My favourite. I was going through things yesterday, sorting, and your cards that you have sent me and the little notes, brought a smile to my face again. They are the gift which keeps on giving. Just wanted you to know. I love the colours in your afghans, so pretty, so you. I would not believe you had just learnt to crochet. They are perfect. ♥♥♥ The watercolour, the wonderland, the muffins . . . your sweet cup. C'est magnifique! Je t'aime!
