~August 1rst 2019~

Can't believe it's August..Mylène turns 44..Lucas 14..Giuliana 18 and Adamo 20 yesterday.

44 !!  LOL..No way;) Way.

It's the time..of the season;)

Everything food wise happens at one in QC it seems apart from greenhouse and such ..
But in the earth here now is the time things begin to come forth and prosper.
It's a mean feat this year ..as drought is playing havoc on everything..
And when rain did appear this week it was torrential! Power outage for ap 5 hrs..wind..tomatoes and large plants toppled over.I was staking things when it was still drizzling..not enough rain to do any good at all at all at all..short lived damaging downpour on anything tall.:(
A boatload of work.

Some happy news..the globe zucchinis I am growing are growing..I did just try a new technique and hope I didn't shoot myself in the knee..that is an expression right?
Hope not..look how cute.I'm in lust.

I bundled up my Ail Rose..the rest is curing still in the Sheshed.

My faves are blooming nicely although I need a pick and and axe to get rid of so many Annabelles..they are all over the place and invasive in 3 spots for me.
Want some? Be my guest come dig up..I just can't anymore lol.

Save your jars kiddos..some are perfect with the perfect plants..i.e..apricot:)

A sweet thing happened this week.I went to pick up a Varage Sale item..

Not even far away..near Costco..I know the area..

I hate my GPS.

Never use it..it's an older one..much older ..
I bought it because a bell rang when I was to turn..or get off somewhere.
But the bell rang too late..she couldn't speak French properly and every street is in French here..anyway..you get the pic.

So I took a screenshot of Google Maps..on my mini IPad..and off I went forgetting my phone..I never have that either because I don't have data and it takes crappy pics lol.

A phone should take great pics.

So it's an emerg phone.Period.

Jacques had cautioned me..take your phone..

Because I get lost in a phone booth.
No kidding at all.

Well sure enough I was lost.

I asked a woman taking out her garbage..she said..oh in there somewhere..not sure..sorry..

Then after going around in circles..on a stinking hot day..I spotted a walker..and stopped my car and excused myself because she had to take her earphones out to hear me..lol..

I asked her where the street was..

She had no clue either.I told her about my legendary lack of sense of direction and she said OHMETOO.

I instantly love OHMETOO people.

So she said wait.. my phone! She used her GPS..and I wasn't far but we both had no clue lol..her phone must take great pics though w/ such a fab on foot GPS:)

I said oh you should come with me..she said SURE!

And hopped in my car..and came with me .To.The.Door.♥
IT really wasn't far but how sweet was she?
Marisa.
Marisa.
Marisa.
I LOVED HER.lol.

We were maybe 3 minutes away but without her? I would have bawled.

Anyway ..I just made a pot of mint tea yesterday because of Carol..
Go see her post with the great July letter and her other art work including mint tea.Always so inspiring..
It inspired me to put a pot on:)

As for me..this happens ..quite a bit:)

  1. There really are a lot of kind people in the world. It is so overwhelming to be lost.I do have a good sense of direction...I can stand inside a room & tell you which is north, south, east west, ect. I can't remember street names but I'm good at directions otherwise. So when I do get lost oh my it can be scary.

I'm enjoying a nice cut of English breakfast with lemon curd & a raspberry scone gifted from a friend. It's rainy & wet but muggy & warm. Still, the rain means I need a good cup of tea.

  3. Awww. thank You Monique ❤️
For the mint tea shout out. Isnt it delightful?
I always wanted a glass teapot. Bought one and then had no idea what to do with it. I thought it was for those ballooning tea things that look like jellyfish.
You got me at the GPS, "she didn't speak French properly" It hurts the ears. I could listen all day. If only I drove...lol

  4. I love all of the catch ups with your garden Monique! Its such a beautiful space. I wish I could see it in person I am sure its breathtakingly beautiful. Boy August is a full month of Birthdays ad celebrations for you! That's great! I can imagine there will be a lot of really tasty meals and get-togethers. Hopefully you will share some of it on here! You and me and Jam Jars. We both love them. I found some other pretty ones also. Look them up here: https://www.williamsbritishconserves.co.uk/
There are windmills pressed into the jars! The lids have geese and berries printed around the edges. Everything you do is so beautifully presented. Visiting one of your blog posts is like opening up one of my favourite magazines. A feast for the eyes and the soul! You are my French Canadian SB. Love and hugs. xoxo

  5. Oh my those jars are cute..will see if my local UK specialty shop has some;)Just one;)

Only one outing w/ Lucas..the traditional lunch and shop.So happy he still wants to..then M's family dinner ehre w/ everyone the 10th.
Summer is flying by and we have only gotten together for birthdays and such.Busy young families..Don't think that because they live so close we're always together.
We get rose colored glasses ideas about how families are when ours are in different countries..I think it depends on the busyness of the families.Ours are Energizers.
Travel..work..sports..friends..etc..the list is long..and that's how it should be..you're only that young once:0
    Thank you!
I contacted Hello..no way I want to miss that issue.
Not getting Hello again.I got it so I can pass to the girls then friends of theirs..Too much royalty for my girls..and Meghan is near invisible since Archie..pre wedding..wedding and pregnant lots of Meghan..I think she appeals to many..So much angst too w/ critical comments and feuds ..oy.

  6. Wow, busy time with lots of birthdays. Time does fly by. Your Annabelle’s are gorgeous. I wish I lived closer, I would be digging some up. I have a terrible sense of direction. Thank goodness for my phone’s gps. My hubby is excellent at navigating. Quiet time is always welcome. Have a wonderful weekend.

  7. Look at that beautiful garlic crop! I just harvested mine yesterday :) Lots of bulbs but not ginormous. The ground was so dry and hard it was difficult getting them out. OMG, I can't believe that girl got in the car with you! I don't think I would have done it. Luckily, you have an honest face :) Can't wait to see what you brought home from Varage sale! Lauren is directionally challenged too :) When she first started traveling to big cities for business John and I feared we'd never see here again - LOL. Thank goodness for GPS...but none of them are infallible. I feel so insecure if I forget my phone at home! Mint tea sounds wonderful! Maggie is still going strong here too! Have a lovely weekend, My Pea.

  9. Dearest Monique,
Oh my, I'm using primarily my iPhone for directions and love it. Clear and great viewing too.
Sending myself a message and then clicking on the address and it opens in maps, then click directions and GO.
Far better than those we have in our cars... they at times have mislead us so badly that I lost trust.
Costly updates on them too and still lousy service...
My bigger iPhone 6 Plus takes great photos and it is convenient. Love it that way.
LOVE your Ail Rose and your flowers and your Globe zucchini.
Enjoy your 1st weekend in August and all those birthdays coming your way.
    Hugs,
    Mariette

      Bon weekend!!

  11. Yes, it's foot.
I am laughing so hard. Zero sense of direction here! Remember when I got lost before GPS, driving to Lucy? Road construction and a detour blocked the exit I was to get off so I got off the next one and was totally and frighteningly lost. Finally a kind man on the back of a garbage truck took pity and helped me out. I can't even read maps. Several years ago we flew to Salt Lake City, rented a car, Larry drove, handed me a map and AAA directions. We were heading to Jackson Hole Wyoming. After an hour and a 1/2 Larry said something wasn't right. He pulls over and realizes I missed a turn about 45 minutes back. Now I drive and he navigates and he HATES GPS. Will rarely use it.

    1. I remember here you said you were the driver☺️Wonder how some people are so great with directions.I hate the fear of being lost..like most of the time you can't turn back.It would help if I knew my east west north. And south..no maps either I would go the wrong way😂
Next life I would ask for different attributes🙏🏻If I could ask

  12. Oh my phone and Google maps have changed the world. We had a GPS Garmin when they first came out. We named her "Hellia" because she caused us such grief - how that has changed. How cute was Marisa! She was a life saver!! I love your globe zucchinis. They are so cute!
