~Garlic Is Curing~

Photos courtesy of Noah's mom:)

Garlic is curing..a new kind..on Jacques' dad's old ladder ..actually 2 ladders that have a long piece in the middle as scaffolding..I used one for the Ail Rose..Letting that cure in the sun..

The other..my usual White German ..is all strung in bunches and hung in my sheshed.

Made my maddies again but added mini choco chips and some dipped in chocolate:)

Years ago you communicated by phone..took photos..had them developed and showed friends and family..

Today..you have cameras that do everything..text..take pics..IF..FB..Twitter..

Keeping in touch and sharing RIGHT away..is par for the course!

I still remember my phone number as a child..Regent 89067.

LOL.
We had phones like the one above..which is the phone is my darling place in Provence.

Well..not MY darling place..you know what I mean.

Noah and his mom went to Europe for 2 weeks on their own.

Visiting Christine and Sylvain in Belgium..and in between a 3 day jaunt in Paris with the TGV.

They had such a wonderful time visiting all they could.

Every day I saw collages of all they did..

Above are  just a few pics from Paris..that got to me..Sennelier because they went for me..and of course the sailboats in Les Jardins Du Luxembourg.

I can't even begin to tell you everything they visited in Belgium..but this is  a quick Paris list.
This is just Paris  ..Belgium 10 more days were spent..imagine.
They had a ball.

Montmartre .. the cemetary..Sacré-Coeur..Place Du Tertre..
Musée d'Orsay..Rodin..Le Louvre.
La Tour Eiffel..l'Arc de Triomphe..Jardins du Luxembourg..Tuileries..Place De  La Concorde..and everything in between w/ all their walking.
They had a ball.
Their main stay was at  friend of hers who moved to Belgium.
I find they were wonderful hosts♥
Bon Weekend~

  2. Dear Monique,
I've been in Paris dozens of times - I'm not exaggerating! Each time I return, I repeat the places I always visit, discovering many new, different ones.
It's very hot right now in Paris. Yesterday the thermometers registered 42 degrees C. Here in Portugal, by the sea, where I live, is much cooler.
There are no fires right now and I feel much more clam and pacified.
    Wish you a great weekend.

  3. I love how you hung your garlic on the ladder to cure. Even more special that it belonged to Jacques' dad ♥ Your bulbs look big and beautiful. Fingers crossed for mine. What a traveler Noah has become. Darling photos of him and how wonderful they got to stay at a friend's home most of the time. Was it hot when they were in France? When Lindsay was in Auch it was beastly hot. I would love one of those Madeleines :) Chocolate chips and chocolate dipped look perfect to me ♥

And the phone and maddies. Everything looks just gorgeous. I can tell they were having the most wonderful time there and you in your garden in kitchen, a good time too, I think! Big smiles!

  6. Read this last night on the iPad, but for some reason I can't comment on blogs using my iPad. I don't know why. Its annoying! Your garlic is magnificent! What a healthy harvest. I can't wait to see all the lovely things you do with it. Those Madeleines, I keep looking at them on IG and every time I do I tell myself I must dig out my pan. They look so wonderfully delicious and the chocolate glaze. Oh la la! I need to buy some mini chocolate chips I think! Your grandson is so precious. I think he looks a tender, sweet soul, and a joy to his mama and to you. Its just wonderful that they have been able to do this trip like they have. Your daughter is so brave to travel to a foreign country on her own like that. Kudos to her! I hope you have a lovely weekend. It has dawned drizzly and cool here. Liking the cool, but sad for Grace and her BBQ first Birthday party. It looks like it is going to be a washout. Maybe we will have a miracle and it will clear. Finger's crossed! xoxo

    2. I think your whole family is a wonderful testimony to the love for the that you and Jacques have shown them. I really admire you, and maybe I envy you a little bit the relationship with your girls. I always wanted that with my youngest daughter, but it was not to be. In any case you have to take your blessings where you find them and my oldest daughter is special as are my two oldest sons! ♥

  7. What does garlic cure? I think I need some. Extreme heat in Amsterdam combined with eating a friend's spicy Tom kat Thai soup left me a wreck...no jetlag when you live over here but there can be other reactions. Adorable to see your grandson at Sennelier! The last thing you expect from a football fan...or maybe not. What is that song...Take this broken wing? I'm looking it up. Xxx

  10. Dearest Monique,
Wow, back from another trip and trying to catch up on blog reading.
Love the way you write you made your 'maddies'... sweet and they sure do look sweet and good with the chocolate dipping.
Great idea for using the old ladder to cure the garlic and I love the Ail Rose garlic.
The story, underlined with great photos about your daughter and grandson is still 'bubbly' so they no doubt had a ball in France, Belgium and Luxemburg. Sounds all so close to home for me. We lived only 5 hours driving from Paris... closer to the rest.
Did drive 7 hours up into the mountains of Virginia for taking our hybrid bikes there and we sure did bike downhill on our hybrid bikes. Challenging and it turned out to be quite an adventure, scary at first with high speed coming down the steepest section in the beginning...
Sending you hugs for a happy weekend!
    Mariette
