~The End~La Fin~

Oh lala.

I inadvertently deleted many Google albums..
and most of the pics have disappeared from my 1200 posts plus... humble blog.
12 years~

I am sad for me..
Because I loved my trips down memory lane..
I would scroll back and watch my alphabet boys grow up..
look at our celebrations..my gardens..the little trips we took..

I would re-read your thoughtful kind comments.

I can't leave my blog looking less than it was..
So I will be deleting it.
I guess in about 1 week~

My photos are not in the Trash bin of Google Photos as I never backed them up..
Never envisoned this happening:(

I'll keep IG for now..

I guess the universe made a decision for me.
I loved meeting:)
So many of you through my blog these past 10 yrs.

Some of you have become friends.♥
We will keep in touch for certain..

Thank you to everyone who kept commenting even in busy times..
Your companionship meant soooo much to me.
You have no idea.

Je vous remercie du fond de mon coeur.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Monique

  1. My dear Monique...This is a sad day...your blog has been the most beautiful heart warming place to visit over the past few years...
I have loved getting to know you on a more personal level...and I cherish your friendship...
Your photos have always inspired me...your baking makes my juices flow...your grandsons are so handsome...I have enjoyed watching them grow up..Your gardening so lush...your stitchery to aspire to...your beautiful family...
And now my MAC wont let me add "hearts" anymore...geesh...
Ahhh...but there is still Instagram...we can still enjoy your beauty over there...thank goodness!!
I also use my blog as a memory game...I can pick any date, and see what we were up to...and how beautiful my family is...
Thankfully you still have your photos on your Ipad...to enjoy until INFINITY!!!
Thank you my dear for all your lovely posts...and for letting me be part of it...
    Love

Have you never backed up your blog on a regular basis?

    4. Monique, did you back up your photos on Google? You should be able to restore it from the trash.https://support.google.com/photos/answer/6128858?hl=en

    2. Monique,
Would you consider leaving your blog up? I have bookmarked most of your posts, so that I can re-read them
and access the links and many recipes. I would love being able to still access these.
I agree with you - a blog is just more personal than instagram....
Also, have you tried checking with Google photos, again? They should be in the trash, even if they are not backed up.
Just a suggestion. I wish that I could do more to help you!
I will wait to hear if you decide to leave the blog up. Thank you, again, for sharing with us all of these years.

But I do keep copies of family pics I take on a flash drive and an external hard drive. Still I love my garden & landscape photographs as well. I just don't back them up because who will want them after me? The world is over run now with those kinds of pictures.

  21. Oh no. No. No. No. No. No. I am heartbroken for you and selfishly for me, for my not being able to sink into your gorgeous posts filled with such love, beautiful images, lovely links. A lovely family. Recipes to die for, photos to savor. All of it. I don't suppose you'd consider starting again -- putting up the photos directly from your computer or camera? It wouldn't be the same blog, but a new blog -- one you could design as the old or take a whole different approach, but still share the same lovely things you have done for these years here. It may feel a bit painful to do it right away but it would still provide the personal connections that you have built with all your friends here. It might even feel good in a way. I so hope you will not abandon a blog forever, just until your heart can heal a wee bit. I know your must feel desperately sad. But you will take these beautiful images forever and you still have a lot of years to chronicle online those adorable "boys" of yours. We want to see them grow up, too.

Biggest hugs to you. My heart breaks for you and for all of us who love you.

  31. Monique, the Internet Archive website shows your website--the layout and photos. Why not re-save them and add them back? It shows the order/layout, and you can go back year by year. I will help you if you like. Please don't give up. Maybe it's not a sign to give up, but rather a sign to let friends help? :) ♥

    http://web.archive.org/web/20190826182228/https://latabledenana.blogspot.com/

    The main website ( http://web.archive.org/ )

lets you search by url/website address ( https://latabledenana.blogspot.com/ ), and then it shows you all its updates year-by-year and month-by-month for your website. Maybe not every last photo saved, but so many of them. And you'll see your page's layout so can put the main page of it back in order.

And you still have your writings themselves, and the comments and links. . . .

Please don't give up yet, my friend! ♥

    2. Even if you keep it private, restoring photos to even one post a week or whatever might be a nice project for you. And maybe someday you would get it full of photos enough again that you would want to let people see it again.

Between time stamps on photos, the actual text in the posts, the labels and recipes in the sidebar, the archive section's dates, and he content f the photos you do have, I bet you could eventually sort them into the right spots as needed. 'A big project, but one step at a time, a do-able one.

    3. For example, your November 17th, 2016 post is photo-less on your blog now:

      https://latabledenana.blogspot.com/2016/11/starting.html

but when you look it up under 2016 in the Internet Archive website, the photos are all there:

      https://web.archive.org/web/20161117184922/http://latabledenana.blogspot.com/

      How grand is that!

Truly, I will help you, Monique, we can DO this! I mean it. I love projects like this. Maybe we can't find every single last image, but I bet we can restore most of it. Truly, I will help. I can send you links to each month's Internet Archive posts to make it easier, I can save the photos I find there in a new flickr account we would both have access to or something, I could take pictures of the pictures and text them to your phont, or *whatever*. I will help.

      Delete
    4. As another example, I've spent the past hour or so looking through your posts from 2012. Most of your photos are saved at the Internet Archive site.

January 2012: All your photos are safe and sound. :)

      February 2012: same :)

March 2012: You, didn't post, so no pics were lost. ;)

April 2012: Your pics are all at the Internet Archive. :)

May 2012: You posted 10 posts. Only 5 posts are missing their photos. Some of the other posts show all their photos, and others show [3 out of 5] or [1 of 2]. But the majority are still there. :)

June 2012: Some photos are missing, but some are there. :)

July 2012: All your photos are there. :)

August 2012: All your photos are there. :)

September 2012: All your photos are there. :)

October 2012: All your photos are there. :)

November 2012: You posted 6 posts that month. Out of all of them, you're only missing one photo (Nov. 17th, 2012, a gluten-free bread pic). :)

December 2012: You posted 8 posts that month and are only missing 1 photo (Dec. 9th, 2012, a shortbread cookie pic). :)

See? And we can save those pics for every single year. We can do this--and I mean *we*. I am happy to help! I am a saver of memories, remember? :) ♥ It is important to save all this--your words, your images, all of it. Please do.

The posts that really are missing their photos can be posts with just text--still a lovely record, especially as rich and charming as your writing is--and maybe bit by bit, you will come across--or even take--new photos of similar things that tie into those posts (like a newly-baked loaf of the gluten-free bread or another batch of the shortbread) and you can add the newer pics to the old posts.

But please don't give up on this. I can do this--and happily will--for each year you've posted. And "luckily"--ha ha!--some years, you only posted 40-60 times all year, which makes it that much easier. :)

Truly, we can do this, Monique! :) ♥

    5. Almost everything for 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 is still there too. I haven't looked through the other years yet. But with 2012, detailed above, that's already 5 out of 12 years' of posts so far that have almost all their posts' photos. :)

Don't decide in haste. The times I've done that with things, I have really regretted it.

2008, 2009, and 2010 all still have many of their photos online too, which makes 8 out of 12 years' worth of posts that still have most of their photos. :)

The above comments by Val are of the utmost value and YES, take your time to resurrect your splendid blog! It is your personal diary, your life's story about all your loves and passions. Don't DELETE THAT!
Yes, one long winter can do a lot for you.
It is a lot less work as all the archiving I've been doing since 2013 for the LOVE of my LIFE, his biography and history writing as he's been such an important pioneer. I too look forward to the time when that is behind me but for the time being it is important to stay at it. The joy it brought to my Pieter so far has been most rewarding! Far better impact than all his expensive meds... Believe me, one day you too will treasure it and now you know how to back up so this will never 'slow-you-down' again - EVER!

    2. GOOD! No, don't give up. There's really no need or reason to. Most of the photos are there, after all. We would just save each image again and you would re-add each in the right spots of the posts, referring to the Internet Archive site as a reference as to what-goes-where. 'Not a done-in-a-day project, but what great effort ever is?! :) ♥

  34. I believe in miracles.
I copied the link Val posted and I can see missing pictures included in your past blog posts.
You have some work to do transferring, but this is truly a miracle.
    God bless everyone helping Monique.

  35. Monique, I have restored many of your photos, however not all. I think between your Instagram and Pinterest, you can add some of those back in. It is time consuming but I want to help.
