Some Christmas Ideas for Next Year~Updated Dec 30th~

There are some ideas I couldn't share before Christmas as they were gifts or to be eaten Chistmas Eve~
Here goes..
Things I loved making or baking~

The snowglobe cake was inspired by Aimee at Twigg Studios..if you are not familiar with her..you have to go meet her♥

I made the centerpiece using cookie cutters and stencils..( a kit) from Fancy Flours.
It's called The Winter Village set.

Last year..on IG stories..Suzie at Just Crumbs showed us how  she was making these seasoning baubles..had to try this year.
We don't have a TJ..so I loved this idea

Last..but not least..after years of making Alicia Paulson's felt ornaments in sets of threes..I completed the last set.I did not make a set for myself this year..
I'm thrilled that the girls..even though our tastes are so different..like these♥
I boxed them up in boxes I favored..:)♥

Not everything I attempted turned out..
Trust me;)
I know..we don't usually trust people who say that.
You would have to see my face.;)

 I had to throw out..

My snowflake cake.

Every nook and cranny stuck stuck stuck ..even with careful prep.
What a hot mess..  lol hot mess..new lingo;)
I am going to try again;)
My sugar cookies/shortbreads..to paint by hand..
as you know the icing never set..
So those were two projects I had looked forward to..that did not pan out.
Peanuts in the big picture.
Peanuts:)

That's a wrap for 2019..Christmas edition;)

Enjoy the rest of the year.♥

Have you all watched Call The Midwife Christmas Edition?
Oh how I love that show.♥

A newfound love for paper chains♥

I had to come back to add a very special footnote with pics..
I follow Val  she charmed me from the get go with her kindness..intelligence and candor.
You may remember a while ago..I made a little lantern Christmas living room..
well look at hers.

She made it for her mom and dad for Christmas..♥
I would rather you read her post on it and all the special touches she added.
When I first saw it..before Chrsristmas:) I showed Jacques and he said Oh her place is so cute:) LOL men.. he didn't put 2plus 2 together and realize it was a lantern house.
But I concur..her place IS so cute.
Look at that furniture♥And do read about all her special touches.
She's a doll.
Bravo Val!

  2. Dearest Monique,
Sorry for your Snowflake Cake... But it is never a too costly fate; that is good.
Love the Snowglobe Cake, looks like that was a lot of fun in anticipation.
Sending you hugs and wishing for a nice ending of this very 'short' 2019 and wishing you Good Health for 2020!
    Hugs,
    Mariette

    1. A learning curve:) Shouldn't even mention failures..but I think it's important to know that it might not be a pan that is suitable for all..as in moi;)
I hope 2020 is kind to all of usxoxo

  3. I watched the Christmas Edition too ♥ Such a wonderful show and the actors are so good. Your Christmas cake is gorgeous and the Gingerbread village is beautiful. It looks like the light is shining through the windows :) Everything you do is done with such detail and love. Wonderful ideas! The spicy globes, the winter cabin series...Adorable+. I will be sad to put Christmas away as the house seems so bleak after all the twinkles are gone. But seed catalogs are arriving! Yay!

    1. Wasn't it great?♥Christmas is staying here for at least 10 more days..at least;)Usually jan 7th..but we may keep the tree and mantel up later.
Concerned about the gardens..although we expect snow tomorrow..there is no ground cover at all..just ice.:(
Not good for all those perennials and garlic..
It snowed in Nov! Nothing really all of Dec..a green green Christmas.
      So different.
It's happened before..just always feels different.
      Bonne journée Pea♥

    2. Similar here, green and unseasonably warm last half of December and Christmas. We had snow on Halloween! Crazy. I hope we get snow before the temps drop again too! I feel sorry for the ski hills nearby and the kiddos who want to be sledding over their vacations. Have a lovely Sunday, Pea xx

  4. I need to try and watch the Christmas Edition once I found out how to watch it :-) I used to just turn the TV on, now I have to search through all the stuff we have. Your Christmas cake is gorgeous and the Gingerbread village is beautiful. Joe put our Christmas decor away already (he is retired LOL, and the attic was not freezing). We have no snow left! My seed order arrived on December 23 :-) Wishing you a Happy and Healthy 2020 dear friend.

  5. I always love seeing your Christmas treats and creations Monique! I didn't get half done this year that I wanted to, but oh well, there is always next year! (Here's hoping!) Love the idea of making the Everything Bagel Seasoning and putting it into one of those clear balls for gift giving. I bought myself some TJ's on Amazon and it cost a fortune as you can imagine, but never having had it, ever, I wanted to taste the real thing so I could replicate it properly! The ornaments you made your girls turned out beautiful. What lovely heirlooms. I am sure they are treasured beyond belief. I sure love Alicia's patterns. I am sorely tempted to buy the pattern for her new doll, but am thinking when would I get around to making it. Sigh . . . Your Christmas cake turned out beautifully. So lovely. I have already sourced glass balls for next year. We will see. CTMW, such a wonderful show. We really enjoyed it and cannot wait for the start of the next series. Of all the programs out there today, we think it is the best. I just wish they did more episodes of it rather than the 6 or 7 they do. Happy New Year sweet friend! Lets hope and pray that 2020 is good to each of us! Love and hugs, xoxo

Marie..you're such a doll girl..I say get the pattern and make it:)
I love them too but I am not a perfectionist and fear wrecking her pattern:)
If I had a wee girl maybe..but lately what I make is to give away:)
I can't stop making but ..I don't have wee girls.

Aimee had told me she got the globes on Amazon.I found mine at Michaels.
Mine is plastic..used to make a snowglobe.
For the seasonings mine are glass a set of 12 last yr.
I remember when you bought the seasoning..so yes now you can make and give:)
      I think I used 2 peas in a pod recipe..I can't remember.
You are going to have a great year

  7. Hello, Monique! I have been saving your most recent posts to savor. Partly because I've been off blog for the past week and partly because I wanted the time to just sit and look deeply at every photo, not have to run off or fly through. OH, I am SO glad I waited. There is such eye candy here! Your projects are wonderful. I love the clever seasoning balls and your ornaments are exquisite. That cake looks to die for -- I'm sure it tasted as good as it looked!

And I love knowing other Call the Midwife fans! That's what we did on Christmas night, after dinner. We watched Lucy Worsley's Tudor Christmas and then the Midwives. Oh, so good. Don't you just love them all?

I can see you have had a sublimely creative season. I can't wait to see what's on the schedule for 2020! Happy New Year!

Target.I did add thewhite paper w/ the name. That was such a lucky find as I never even knew I would be making the seasoning at that point.I must say even though Target left us in QC heartbroken..I do love their tags when in the US :)

  15. Monique, your Christmas cake is a work of art! And that street of gingerbread homes!!! All so creative, beautiful and clever. I would love to see your home any time of the year, but expecially at Christmas. Love the footnote!!! I didn't realize it was a lantern house in the first photo. Amazing detail, and of course her colors and pup on the sofa are my cup of tea!!!
FYI ~ there is the dearest painting of a lit Christmas tree, framed, and sitting on the huntboard in our living room. It will stay out year round!!!
