~Mid Feb~

I am having a lovely zen time painting Geni's Paris People from Instagram....I just like to try and draw them (no tracing)..then painting them..LOVE my pen recommended by Roisin Cure..

Just enjoying all this during these miz times.

So much on my mind..

Americans have Shrove Tuesday..in France it's called Le Chandeleur..it was last week..

I used my Christmas gadget from my daughter..and in no time  a stack of crepes were done..

just lemon..blueberries and icing sugar..except Jacques douses his w...maple syrup.

Still playing with breads..

My sourdough starters are started, prettiest bread..but not great yet..and honestly for all of you that SD seems intimidating..Trust me..so many FAB no-kneads  for everyone to be happy and bake bread at home w/ just flour water salt and yeast.

A heavy pot too though ..

In 2011 Susan shared this recipe..  pecan shortbread hearts with many of us..you can find her lovely recipe..here..we have been friends for years and years and years.

The year I had to stop working..you have no idea how much some friendships meant to me and continue to..

Never underestimate..the companionship of kind words.

Have I mentioned how much I love all my grandsons:)

They leave love letters in our snow when they ski out back♥

And did again just now.

And if you can stand more...:)  All people from Geni..Geeparee on IG.

Take care..I know a few of my US friends have been fortunate to have been vaccinated..
Here?
Nope.
What a disappointment.
I LOVED him when he was elected..
How could such a delay have happened.
Bon weekend.

  1. I'm so glad you enjoyed the pecan shortbread! Sometimes I try to many new recipes that I forget about the ones from the past that I've loved. Your Paris people are just wonderful! What a delightful subject and you are creating a wonderful style working with them. Please let me know that pen that you're using and love. ♥ That bread! It's so gorgeous. I hear what you're saying re sourdough bread. Sometimes I go to a website and all the formulas that go into a recipe sometimes make it feel daunting. Glad I've found a few simple ones, although I do love pretty and that's what this one is! You have to see my new post. Mutual admiration society - LOL.

The pen is a Fude Sailor pen this is the green one..they use a converter ..the ink is Brown De Atramentis.
The pen if you use one side of the nib..it’s thicker the other..thin.
It’s an angled b.I just bought another..but need the converter..one thing at a time lol.
You have Goulet pens you can get the ink there.I cannot believe how I have fallen in love with this permanent brown ink.
I ordered mine from the UK..The Writing Desk.
Goulet was not shipping due to Covid ..at the time..it ended up costing the same from the UK for me.
      My pens..Amazon.
Roisin did a live today about the pens..could be in her highlights.
I just love it ..it takes getting used to.
      Not too long😊
The websites for sourdough🤣🤣🤣🤣Ohmy gosh I feel..well like I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer!
      Going to see your post!
      Saw the beautiful IG post💕

  2. What a lovely blog post! Such special photos! Yes, we were fortunate to have our second vaccine this past Tuesday. We are in East Tennessee and are in that specially-aged “first group.” :-) Hopefully your turn will come very soon!

  3. No vaccine in Canada yet? How sad. I go for my first this afternoon. I signed up as a nurse the day before it was opened to over 65. Larry still can't find a date. (: The sign up system is very flawed here.

Your sketches are lovely. I love from behind. If I shoot people it's often from behind.

    1. All people in assisted care have been vaccinated here in QC It seems our PM reserved enough(not producing it here yet which is shameful IMHO)..but other countries paid more..so they too are getting it before us..
Had we produced it things would be different!
      Oh good for you A..

      I find I love backs..natural!

  7. Monique, as I sit here in frigid Austin, I smile at the love letter in the snow. Those boys!!! We are not covered in snow, but it is predicted again, along with temps in the single digits by Monday. What??? This is central Texas! I'm just hoping that the power line and water pipes will hold. My SIL and BIL were without power for 32 hours. Back on as of 9pm last night. The good news is they got their second vaccine yesterday.
I agree, it is all disappointing. Our vaccine roll out has not been smooth. Too many issues with electronic registration and appointments. This in Austin, the third coast of technology. Our city government is not acting responsibly.
We are due our second vaccine on the 25th. Fingers crossed we get them. Our next door neighborhood drove 4 hours yesterday to get his first vaccine. It's crazy what people are having to do to get vaccinated!
    Happy Valentine's Day!

  8. Happy Valentines Day Monique I hope you and your sweetheart have a great day together. Love the sweet note the boys left for you in the snow out back! How utterly wonderful to be loved that much! I am sure they miss gtting together with you a great deal. Probably as much as you miss getting together with them! Your cookies. Love the idea of a pecan shortbread. Isn't Susan just a darling, darling girl. I have bookmarked her recipe for when I can bake again. Your Paris people. I love, Love, LOVE them! I love that there are no faces, but you can still see the essence of each person! Wonderful! You are so very talented! No Vaccines here either, but we are relatively safe here where I am for the time being. Wouldn't take much to disturb that however. They say no vaccines until July/August. We live in interesing times! xoxo

    1. We sure do..I am being encouraged a bit by J..he walks by my pen sketches and says..he likes them:) Genie's people are so expressive..told her she needs a book ..wonder if we need permission from the back?
It really bugs me Marie that Trudeau was not more foreseeing.I know it's a heck of a job..but this is big..
      really big.

Marie..47 years..it will be a day like every other..he came home from Costco with tulips Wednesday and that's such a great thing.
Like the best..in this Siberian cold.
      WE are not gifters.
      And that's fine.
      Have a great day..:)

    2. I think he is very young and somewhat inexperienced in such things? Look at the mess the UK has made of it all, but all are being vaccinated at least. Eventually. Slow but sure. I love that he brought you Tulips. Tulips are so pretty. To have such a man is a great blessing. xoxo
PS - Love your beach painting to the right. So sweet!

  10. Happy Valentine's Day, dear friend. I hope your day is beautiful and filled with love (I have a feeling it will be!). Love the messages in the snow left just for you. We might get to see our Littles today -- brief, distant and that's OK! I am loving your paintings, each and every one. I need to take that class! Your Paris People ROCK!!!! The bread and cookies look wonderful. I have Pavlova in the oven for tonight and yesterday made some heart cookies. Your crepes look to die for! YUM! Have a glorious day!

    1. You too have a glorious day!
It started by my following her on IG:)
Then I pre-ordered her book..and then she offered people classes 3..to my knowledge so I took the.
      Not comfy with face yet..
Jeanie..she is a treat to take a class with.
      She's a storyteller.
So you are not only learning things you are entertained ..but in a zen way.I found that taking classes with her were like painting with a friend.
Right now she is teaching a series on Eugène Delacroix and Morocco.
I am hoping to try and get better with people before confusing myself:)
At 2 socially distanced outside..I will see my girls and grandsons.
Until we get vaccines..no chances..we've come this far..not about to screw it all up;)

      Have a beautiful day.

  16. I enjoy your Paris people here and on IG. The grands leaving love notes for you is so very sweet. Our country has not been very wise in managing some aspects of this pandemic. The vaccine kerfuffle will delay the end of it for longer than it should. All long term care residents in BC have been vaccinated, and most workers (some refused). We'll be lucky if we get ours by September.
    Enjoy those delicious cookies!

    1. What a kerfuffle Lorrie:( We have missed one yr..with our families.. so many lonely.. on their own people..we have lost lives..businesses are closing..children miss their activities..Had there been more foresight..it would not be September. Some of my US friends are all done..or waiting for dose number 2...
It's easy for me to say I would hate to be a leader especially in this pandemic.
      But something is off..indeed:(
Take care and thanks for putting up w/ my pics twice:)
