...We had sunshine:)

It's been brisk and cold..but we did get a few sunshiney days.I made Paul Hollywood's New Year Cake albeit just the cake not the curd..decorations etc.I did not have mahlab and mastic..but did drape it with a nice glaze and vanilla sugar boost in the recipe. It is really good and a keeper. We are watching reruns of the GBBO:)

It is super icy here.. but we were spared the Maritimes huge storm.
Kids and adults are skating :) I still have mine..I am scared:(
Too scared.

I wanted to share a new little add-on to my watercolor addiction of tools and such.
See that reservoir? You press on the green dot..the small vessel empties and new water gets filled up.
For the way I paint..It is so good!
Amazons etc have them..Not sponsored.
It turned out to not be a gimmick:)

In Provence..I love the markets..every morning we went to a different one as we visited so many little towns. But we also shopped in a grocery store..and I favored certain items....That fig confit was good over cheese and baguette my every night dinner..
It seemed to always have a blue sky over it:)

The markets still my faves..But yogurts..milk etc..this was it.We had lunch every day in a resto..a square..etc..but dinner home..The roads are terribly narrow and dark so we stayed home..And it was not a punishment:)

I loved my market mornings..I will never ever forget them:)
Have a good weekend:)

  1. We have had sunshine, too! It changes everything, doesn't it? We've had warmer days, also, and have been able to go outside for walks. This nice break in the weather seems to make winter a bit more bearable.

What a sight--your lemon cake on the pretty plate. Lemon glow. My mom adored lemons and she made lemon meringue pies that were perfection on a plate. Good memories.

I never visited Europe and I'll probably kick myself for the rest of my life. It's always wonderful to hear about your experiences there, Monique. Tell us more.

    1. For a while that's all I talked about here..and then my photos got deleted:( It sure put a damper on my zest for blogging;) Sunshine makes everything pop.Our homes..the landscape..It colors our world ..It rained the night before last and being a bit of a pluviophile.(not for days on end)...I loved it..we have very little snow for this time of year..wonder if it will stay this way.We usually get a few more storms..My mom's lemon meringue is a favorite memory also:)I can tell you that Paris was not on our favorites lists:)

    2. Probably a good thing not to visit Europe, crime is through the roof and there is a never ending war in their backyard.

  2. That cake! What a nice dose of sunshine on a dreary morning here. We had such a warm-for-February weatherlast week. Thursday was the warmest on record here, 59F degrees! That same evening a tornado touched down about 90 miles west. The earliest tornado on record for Wisconsin. Now we're back to normal, chillier temps. Luckily most of the snow melted during the warm temps and there is no ice either, thankfully! I wouldn't risk skating again either - LOL. Love your hockey player and trip down Provence memory lane! Such wonderful memories! At least you still have your photos on your computer. ♥

  3. Just a quick look-in, and will return later, but my only glimpse was the Figue picture, and my admiration soared as I considered the fact that you are not just an excellent cook, a formidable gardener, an incredulously-fine Nana, and an exquisite painter---I do declare that you have it in you to take up another, more secretive talent. I had no idea you had such an uncanny eye for forgery. Just another gift up your sleeve.

Do forgive me---I have a case of the Sillies today. Must be all these hearts in the air.

  6. Love lemon anything🍋 and your cake looks delicious. Have not been fortunate to have spent much time in the south of France but I know I would like wandering the markets taking in all of the marvelous fruits and vegetables and then the brocantes. Make it a good week.
