Easter Preps..

I love Easter..I really do..when I was a child..I still remember a good new Spring coat..shiny shoes..and white gloves.
When our girls left home..I didn't like Easter as much..but it wasn't londg before The Little arrived and I loved it all over again..but more..I know they will outgrow things and nay not even remember..but I love making special thing that they will see.

This year my daughter is hosting a dinner and the Littles will come for a hunt first..we think..nothing set in concrete yet.

We are celebrating Jacques' birthday too..

I know I am making a Toblerone cheesecake..6 individual desserts for the Littles and G and A..
and I think a small Spring like cake encased in that white chocolate basket I made above..

and I dond't eat any of it..give me a cracker of tosttitos.

The lollipops are going in their baskets..with a few other things I am planning..
I made a lot of chocolate things Sat..

..never again fillled chocolates that you clamp..they take forever..
plastic molds like the one above..I found time consuming..not worth it..the reason I bought these was to make them..package them..but there would be secret messages in them..nope..and they take a lot of chocolate..
..give me silicone any day..
easy peasy perfectly cute.

Those little white bunnies and eggs? Pop outs!

The hard plastic I find more difficult.Like never again apart from for certain things..

I once had the cutest mold..Beatrix Potter..little medallions..lost:(
In a move.. I gather..if anyone of you has found it please return it:) It was one of my first chco deco gadgets that I fell in ♥ with.

I loved making Susan Branch's lamb cake one year..but since this is an evening event..I think it will be best an adult dessert andc ute kiddie desserts..
so here you have a peek at what has started in the kitchen..the filled eggs were not ready..:)  and what has happened in the past..on a few occasions..

I like preparing for them:)

I am very patient though..I can wait in line..wait for the doctor..etc...
I guess I was born with it.
When I came home after showing homes all day..maybe 14 sometimes..and then be on the phone w/ my clients..Jacques would say that all the time too..
the thing is..I always wanted my clients to find.."the home"..:)

Thank you for your comment Barbara..you are right ..when I look at The Littles looking for eggs etc..w/ my camera..I am maybe the one having the most fun....as you know..these days are coming to an end one day..they are counted.

The cookies are works of art, and that lamb cake has to be one of the cutest I've ever seen. I'm sitting here scrolling up and down, all the while my heart is smiling at that cute Peter Rabbit. So excited to have one of my very own. Merci, Monique!

  14. What fun Easter decorations you have, Monique! I have some cute things in a box in the garage, but won't be having any family here this year, so not worth hauling out. I will, however, put out my cute Williams Sonoma dish towel with an adorable Easter bunny on it and hang it on my oven door. That's as festive as I'll get this year.

  15. Oh no you are wrong Monique, they will remember, many years from now. With a little luck you will be making some for great grandchildren or at least passing on all stash to your daughters so they can be perfect grandmas like you. I wishe Easter were a little latter this year but for your family it will be fun celebrating Jacques birthday too. I made a few sugar cookie bunnies too last week when I made shamrock cookies and need to ice and decorate. Yours are all gorgeous. Royal icing or a glaze icing? I need to make my bunny chocolates from the molds I purchased. I hope I do ok with the bunny cake.

      All will be well:)
I would get on my knees if I saw great grandchildren..my genes are not reliable for that..although I do know women that have had that pleasure..
yes I hope the girls use my stash:)
I won't be leaving Michael Kors and Louboutin things..but cookie cutters..

    2. PS .. a make a glaze type icing..runny but hardening royal icing....and dip..let dry..paint..it cannot be soft when dry..you need a painting surface:)

    4. Thank you for all your tips. I don't think the banner would fit on the bunny's back but thank you. So glad you said glaze as opposed to royal icing

  16. I see some familiar faces :) I remember the lamb cake and those beautiful painted cookies you made. The Littles will see a photo one day and remember that Nana made that. I have so much time before our Easter celebration that I'll be able to buy Easter things on sale after the actual holiday. Cha-ching :) Everything there looks lovely and filled with sunshine - something we haven't seen a lot of in the past week. I just bought a basil plant yesterday, actually a living basil, just bare roots in a cello bag with water. Do they sell those there? The scent - oh my. I still have a Peter Rabbit bowl and cup set given as a baby gift when Lauren was born ;) Love your collection of Eastery things! xo

  24. To make my chocolates I always use the plastic molds, like you did. I don't know what did not work for you but it does for me. I always place the molds in the freezer for 5 minutes after I filled them with chocolate. Then it's so easy to unmold.

    1. It's the 3 D ones..when you attach the two pieces..I find they take so long to freeze..

you cannot just coat those bunnies lightly and pop out..see above?

The ears break off..too deep and too many details..for me anyways..all others work..but give me silicone any day now:)

Ones that are not so deep pop out..these molds came w/ directions for 3 D..I thought..I want thin..no way ..well for me:)
