Quel Bonheur~ Dans La Poste~Paris Maps.
You must remember this:)..When my Paris Letter came to me..
now that this bear is no longer in a baby's room here as the Littles are Big..I posed him w/ the Carol Gillott's Paris Letter I had subscribed to.
Well I am here to say that her Paris Maps..are amazing..I know that word is overused..but is suits her maps..
My sketch..es of me came w/ my map..I now have 2..and I just..well ..here I go again..love them..
so darn well done..Jacques said :"Look at the work involved"..I said :"I know"!~
They should definitely be in a book..I cannot imagine someone not wanting the whole collection in a beautiful book..w/ Carol's other singular art works..like the café cups..and the macarons and desserts and chocolats..
her recollections and of EVERYTHING from her Paris Dream..
these are a francophile's dream..an art lover's dream..
the maps of course contain souvenirs..adorable souvenirs..
every arrondissements is a special art lovers treat.
This is not your everyday map.
Des trésors.
And the stamps on the envelope? I love stamps..the France real stamp of course but the rubber stamps..so adorable they are..
And I have never looked so good.
I treasure that face. How vain does that sound?
Well I do..when someone makes such a sketch..es ..of me.I give them a standing ovation, because that face she did..is my wish face.
I wish:)
Merci Carol...for that face.:)
Look at her..so adorb as she would say;)
The Paris Mail is available on Etsy....go see so cute..
A treat that lasts.
I love her subscriptions.♥
Meanwhile..here I am getting ready for Easter w/ some desserts..and made Jacques Crêpes Suzette for his birthday today..
yesterday we went for lunch at a New Orleans Bistro type resto..we had Creole Shrimp and Grits..and fell in love w/ grits..the seasoning and juice etc of the shrimps just melted into these cheesy delicious grits that had corn kernels and finely diced red pepper..baby bok choy laid on top..DELISH~
You should see my kitchen..first after I made the CS..whoa..all sparkley..then the baking and icing and piping tips..not the queen of piping here...nor the dancing queen:)
I have icing everywhere because I was NOT wearing one of my favorite aprons..my sinks are full and I am about to do system restore 2..
Jacques had Yves Montand playing all morning and this aft..all Paris..all good..:)♥
Went so well well my my Carol collection.
PS..Le lapin above is not going to make the cut:)his ear broke off..
Oh well..the baking continues tomorrow..
and the marveling of Carol's talents.
Please forgive the lacklustre pics..it's dark and snowing here..all day~Turning to rain we think~

I think I bought my recent red strapped watch because of her..
DeleteShe is Lovely..absolutely..and her maps are fabulous..they have tobe published in my opinion..I buy books I love:)And hers would be one of them.
That macaron bracelet made me covetous.:)
C'est sûr qu'elle devrait les faire publier. Elles sont vraiment ravissantes, ces cartes ! J'achèterais le livre aussi, c'est sûr !
DeleteOn irait ensemble chez le libraire l'acheter:)
DeleteHappy Birthday, Jacques! You made such a beautiful breakfast for the birthday boy, Monique! The shrimp and grits sound wonderful, even though I'm not sure I've ever had grits. And, Carol! She is so truly talented! I love the Paris maps and love all the charming details. I have a red-strapped watch too - my favorite. I think I need those red glasses next :) I love red, black and white together!
ReplyDeleteI am myopic..but I think my next glasses may be red:) J'aime le noir et blanc et rouge aussi:)
Deleteso fun all of it and she did that painting of you? i just love all of it,and yes her macaron bracelet is fantastic. i love finding out about all of these things through you
ReplyDeleteShe did..a sweet surprise..♥Look at all her posts..I have had some wonderful art lessons from Carol:)
DeleteI noticed that new portrait this morning on your blog - now I am completely bowled over by these maps - what a delight! Instantly went to her site and will bookmark. Amazing - and many thanks for introducing her to me. And your crepes are beautiful! I usually do rolled up cigars with apricot jam and a snowy shake of confectioner's sugar. PS/ I love that portrait of you!
ReplyDeleteKatrina..I love the portrait of me too..because it's a much improved moi..
Deleteand yes the talent and charm of Carol's work..a book is in order..♥
The maps..are intricate..charming..and perfect.I think they are frame worthy +
Nonsense - every photograph of you is beautiful! And I totally agree that they are frame worthy. Such cheerful and colorful meanderings - I especially loved that poodle carrying a chic shopping bag.
DeleteI am going to be actively searching for frames..I agree!
DeleteHappy Birthday Jacques!🎈
ReplyDeleteWhat. Beautiful breakfast....lucky guy!
Have a wonderful Easter...with your lovely family...
Cheers!
Linda :o)
I will tell him..so far it was lovely..calls from his girls..Noah and a visit from one daughter and 2 Littles..we will all be together Saturday!
DeleteThanks Linda!
Yes, Happy Birthday, Jacques!
ReplyDeleteI adore Carol's work. I subscribed to her monthly letters one year, and this year I had her do a sketch for friends to send as a Christmas surprise. I must order the maps. I agree. Her work should be a book. Everything she does is totally charm in my opinion. Of course, she shares Paris like I prefer to see Paris when I'm there - walking and letting serendipity take me away.
That is how Jacques and I would visit..just like that..quaint stops..shops..Montmartre..
DeleteYou are so thoughtful about the sketch..what a sweet gift.
I would pre order her book too...
I adore her work too..I keep saying too..limited vocabulary tonight..so I will say aussi!
Carol captured you very well because I know you in person Monique, and she is slso very lovely lady too...📷🎨
ReplyDeleteVery sweet of you Di...very.
DeleteThat is a fantastic pic of Carol and she did a great job on your's too. The crepes look to die for and shrimp and grits is so very southern and delish too. I just ate dinner and all including the cake look good. Have the best Easter with your littles and bigs.
ReplyDeleteThanks Donna,.you too..
DeleteCarol is fantastic looking..!
I'm not sure I would ever describe your pics as lackluster! Love shrimp and grits and even a bunny without an ear! Have a Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteI need great grits:)
How utterly unique! I am so amazed at all the different talents in this world and the incredible people who create these things! Thanks so much for sharing with us! Love, LOVE the maps. I did a similar one of the village we lived in when the daughter for the American family I worked for down South got married. For free of course. It somehow got considered a part of my duties as the cook. Go figure! LOL that is how rich people stay rich. They have a way of getting whatever they want for free. Loving the Crepes you made your dear J. They look fabulously delicious. I wish I could be a fly on the wall to see all you get up to with your family this weekend. I know it will be fun and delicious and filled with joy! Joyeuses Pâques! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThis morning when we got up Jacques said :"Do you want e to take out the Grand Marnier?: LOL..really you should have seen my kitchen.:)
DeleteIt looks so dark..like Good FRiday indeed.
I think you should make a map of where you live..contact the bureau of commerce or whatever and NOW sell it:)
For big bucks:) The stores could hand them out..how charming would that be?
Our town did it about 30 yrs ago..everyone bought them!!It was charming too.
It sounds a positively charming idea Monique and I wil lgive it some thought! I think Jacques must have been hinting at crepes suzette? Peut etre? We had a sunny Good Friday and a rainy saturday but today on Sunday the sun is shining again. It's cold but dry and that is always good! Happy Easter! xoxo
DeleteWow wow wow!!!
ReplyDeleteYou knocked me off my chair ;))
Thank you for the gorgeous post monique!!!!
I wills end along a glue stick for the bunny's ear next poste
xxxxx carolg

DeleteYoure so talented Carol..the intricacy and detail..so so cute..it makes them so marketable..but mainly so publishable in a book!
You need Judith Jones.
You have a pre-order here. One map could have vellum :) And a darling bookmark!
Jacques must have loved his crepes and birthday outing. The maps are fantastic. You must get so much inspiration from them. Hope you are able to rescue the bunny. I found a nordicwear bunny and it unmoored well. I usedy your lamb recipe. Fingers crossed as I have to frost yet. I'm using joy of baking frosting and I'm thinking of piping frosting. Wish me luck.
