So cute..one day Marie posted about how her husband sends her texts about how grateful he is for everything she does♥when he is out and about w/out her..
I commented that Jacques doesn't even have a phone.:)
But I had saved this Gif..to put in my post..because this he does..he will come by my easel..or wherever I am playing w/ paints and tell me:"J'aime quand je te vois peindre"~
He'll come and see the work and it's either..: "C'est bien".."non non..vraiment c'est bien..":) ..very encouragingly.. And I can almost swell with pride and LOL there is no reason to..or he will look and say ..nothing..kind of..and I will say..:"Lucas looks too small "..and he will say" "yes..you are right..but I think it's the hat..the hat should be smaller and Lucas bigger because the height is ok it seems.."
so then I think to myself ..this painting is finished.I can't change a hat and Lucas' size in oil..:)
And when my shadows are way off in watercolor ..c'est la vie too..
start over.
And I am not painting plein air..and I am not dressed like that..:)
I have been and will be..but when I am in the house..it's leggings and long sweaters in the winter..and wool socks;)
It's a learning experience..all of it..I am curious and interested into how it all works so individually for everyone..
And I love having tea..while painting..Spotify..in the background..sun shining in..
he likes when I make it..I can't make coffee for beans..he can..so we each have our times.
We have tea many afternoons..and to me a small home baked treat is just right w/ tea.
A linzer cookie..a shortbread..a slice of this..a bite of that.
I did 3 little oils..of some scenes of the boys from November..while they were at the beach..I had these photos printed and tried to recreate them.
Same w/ the Noah/nana ones..the strawberry picking day..one watercolor one oil..obviously not only faces are hard for me..but limbs too..apart from other things.
The Italy ones are from photos I took in Italy♥and then trying to use Shari's online classes to do them..
and the last..is from a sketch I took from one of my Zoe De Las Cases books..I try and sketch it..proportions are all off..and then paint.
I adore painting in the sunlight w/ music playing softly:)
Some are in the window of my workshop/craft room...others taped to a journal..others in journals..
That craft room gets such beautiful sunlight in the afternnon...
I don't know how my friend Nancy does her huge toiles..I am so in love w/ the one I have in our guest bedroom..I just love it so much..I have caught myself touching the reliefs..
It's my size I am sure..height..wise..and it's wide..almost dormer depth width wise.
It is one of my prized posessions:)
I have 2 new new prized posessions..
I won one of Vivian Swift's Triscuits..it is beautiful and it is here..her new book should be in our home by March 31rst..so I will share it all the same day.I had pre-ordered it from Amazon Canada.
It will be my 3rd book of hers.
I hope one of my daughters or grandsons keeps my favorite books.
One day..
I also have a new Avatar..Carol from Paris Breakfasts did it..:)
Carol introduced me to Vivian's blog quite a while ago..
Jacques had commented on Carol's Avatar..because he reads my blog..not every day..but he plays catch up..and so he has read them all:)Anyway he had commented..and now I find myself with such a cute youthful happy face:)
I have a new art card I will frame.. some new books..a mystery and a Fairy Tale book:)..
by the way..if you have not visited Gail..in The Hamptons..go visit..she and her husband plein air paint..and take us through the Hamptons..art galleries..beaches..quaint shops..nurseries..
Such a week.. some sweet surprises..some surprising news..and tonight a little guest for a sleepover..Noah:)
I took out the Heart Waffle Iron for tomorrow..and a Stonewall Kitchen Waffle Mix:) Fresh berries..well Costco fresh..and do it yourself pizza tonight.
He was supposed to come w/ Max..but Max and his family went to "The Cottage" LOL..seems they aquired a cottage;)
Oh to be a child..for one day.
Bon Weekend~
I love that GIF! That is so sweet that Jacques takes such an interest in your art and your blog :) Tea, painting, music and a sweet treat. What could be better? I love seeing all that you've accomplished and the Italy paintings are wonderful! How wonderful that C and family have a cottage now! How far away? On a lake? I know, so many questions :) Have fun with Noah!!
ReplyDeleteThat is the funny part..it's just a 2 night rental:)!Easy breezy ownersghip;)In a child's mind..it's theirs..
DeleteDog sitter at home w/ the 2 doggies..
Italy seems like yesterday..and yet not..:)
Much better than owning! Stay, leave and forget about it :)
DeleteForgot to mention how much I love your avatar from Carol! What a wonderful resemblance.
DeleteYes and yes!
DeleteOh Monique, you will learn so much from taking classes. You know I do believe you have developed your own style which some people never acquire. It isn't easy to find your own style. I just can't wait to move all of my art stuff to the city house, but since I spend about half the time there, I'll have to have some at the farm too. I have the big grandkids for spring break and they are wild, but don't want to go back home so I'll keep them another day. Big fun, big messes - the stuff of life.
ReplyDeleteShari definitely has her own style.. she's a graphic artist but also an art artist..at the moment she is in South Carolina giving classes..she picked the perfect time as it has chilled up..
DeleteI truly enjoy her online classes..
It's funny..here I keep art supplies upstairs..in the TV armoire..:) and downstairs in my craft room..and I switch them up..everything I do is small..not triscuit small but small..my friend Nancy..does the large large canvases..
Have fun w/ the Wild child...s:)♥
What a delight to see all your lovely paintings, you have been busy and it shows how much you enjoyed painting them. I love the sketch of you by Carol, what is an Avatar ? I must look that up. I haven't had time to paint, we have a very busy time ahead of us, our holiday letting cottage has its fist visitors this next week so there's been lots of other type of painting to be done, to make the cottage clean after the winter, fortunately Mr France does that sort of painting, I do all the cleaning. I haven't been able to find the time to make any posts on my blog and I've cut down on the amount of blogs I follow . Seeing your lovely post full of your paintings has really made me happy today. Hoping I'll be able to find time to sketch and paint again soon I'd love to know about Carols sketch of you.
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara.. if you look to the right..on the sidebar..that's the sketch Carol did..then she added color..an Avatar..is the littler..lol..smaller photo that appears beside our comments..yours is your smiling face ..mine was a black chef hat..this is a little Spring Look a la PB..uncanny how she can do these!
DeleteI still love my black chef hat..a gift from one of my daughters the yr I started my blog ,for Christmas:)
I love your paintings. You have inspired me to get back to painting with watercolor. I have not painted in years.
ReplyDeleteI would love us to start an art circle:)
DeleteMonique, I admire your paintings. I'm not surprised that Jacques is a supportive fan. The image in the clip is adorable, as is the thought of you painting with Jacques' encouraging comments. l hope your boys are learning to sketch and draw. Or are they too active for such an activity. '-)
ReplyDeleteThunderstorms rolled in last night and brought us cool temps again. I'm back in a long sweater and leggings today. '-)
So happy leggings resurfaced a few years ago..I said I would never wear them again..the last time they came around..now I have vowed to nevere et them go:)
DeletePractice makes perfect....for sure!
ReplyDeleteLovely post....lovely paintings....lovely houseguest!
Enjoy!
Breakfast sounds divine!
Cheer So!
Linda :o)
He just ate..now cartoons for a bit..nana's having her coffee:)
DeleteI am sure you had a most delightful time...
DeleteGosh...it is cold,eh?
Hi Monique, love the GIF. You are a wonderful painter. I find myself drawn to your paintings. I was going to ask you what you do with them when you're done, but then you answered my question in the post. Have a great time with Noah!
ReplyDeleteAnd I have noticed my self falling for your house and garden:))
DeleteI think your GIF is wonderful. To me, your art does not look like practice! Lovely.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that Gif adorable Kate?:)
DeleteI always enjoy it when you show us your art, Monique, there is always such loveliness and serenity about it. And I love the grandmother quote :-)
ReplyDeleteAmalia
xo
It's true..I am being an antique now..w/ Noah:)
Delete♥♥♥ Oh so much to love here Monique. Your paintings are SOOOOO gorgeous. You have so much talent. I love that you continue to work at it. I adore all of them. Even the ones you think are not so good. I love the gif and the thought that Jacques stops by as you are painting and gives you a kiss. Such a sweet thought. The other day I went into town with Todd and he was soooo happy to have me with him. I have got to do it more often. Our days are numbered together. We forget that and get caught up in the busy-ness of each day. I need to make myself stop and treasure the moments for what each is. Love and hugs to you and Happy Sunday wishes. Sweet little overnight guests and heart shaped waffles. love. love. love. xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh I know our days are numbered:(
DeleteI hate that..you get to a time where all of a sudden that aspect hits you clear in the face..
I did think it was so tender that T calls you..but how nice that you went with him:)
Lovely thoughts Marie
DeleteYay you cropped the sketch!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks cute...like YOU!!
Thanks
YOU are AMAZING.
DeleteI love C.G.'s portrait of you -- wonderful!
DeleteIt's so cute:) Cuter than me.
DeleteM I don't see the flaws you see. I see love and color in your paintings. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteAs for the phone thing. While J doesn't have one, L does but never has it turned on. AND IT'S A FLIP PHONE! Not even a smart phone. There must be 100 unheard messages from me!
LOL..mine's a flip too..I had it when I was in real estate..imagine..Lucas told me I could probably get a lot for it as it's an antique..you should have seen J's when he was working..it came with a suitcase it was so big;)
Deletelol lol lol the suitcase coment
DeleteYou are SO talented Monique. You certainly don't need to "practice." It's not hard to imagine you on that hilltop with Jacques walking up behind you. In fact every time I visit your blog I imagine you living in a house on a hill in Provence with a spectacular view overlooking a valley, painting in plein air each afternoon, then going in for tea and cookies.
ReplyDeleteBon weekend.
Sam
I love your vision:) It's funny I always picture you in Provence w/ Meakin..or in Fl:)
DeleteWe all agree....you are amazingly talented, Monique. I love all your work, don't see anything that needs changing. But I know artists are their own worst critics. Not so with the viewer! Also think it's a fun new avatar. I finally, after using an old photo taken years ago took a new photo, but still haven't changed it anywhere. Love what Carol did with yours.
ReplyDeleteAnd finally, your links to blogs I've never visited are great fun.
Have a lovely Sunday!
Jacques noticed Carol's avatar right away..and he loves my new one..it was time:)
DeleteLooking forward to yours:)
Quelles douces peintures qui fleurent bon le printemps !
ReplyDeleteUn peu de printemps avec le soleil aujourd'hui..mais FFFroid encore!
DeleteLove the watercolors!! Thanks for the inspiration! Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jody
I gave Noah the watercolor of us today..kept the oil..
Deletewhat's he going to do w/ oil? LOL
:)
Those are wonderful! What treasures you will leave behind for your kids! I have no talent in the art area, so I really admire yours. Have a wonderful Easter with your bunnies! I have lots of preps to make, shopping, baking, cooking, and poof, Easter is over! Too close to St. Patrick's Day for me this year. We are awaiting a snow storm tonight, so the shopping may have to wait! :(
ReplyDeleteYou give treasures to yours ALL the time..with your energy and creativity and love!
DeleteHappy Easter Kathleen!
You new avatar is darling. Love that you are practicing..even though i think you a re fantastic. Everything you do turns into art.I love the water colors, so beautiful and peaceful. Happy Spring.
ReplyDeleteSet up an easel ..at your home.. (as if you have time..):)..buy a set of paints..and paint those vistas:)
DeleteMonique, you DO live the artist's life! You are an inspiration. The GIF is so sweet. There are some sweet drawings in the S.B. book, but I think you could do one of your own...
ReplyDeleteI am waiting for yours.:)
DeleteThank you..yet again..:)
Actually..that Gif..could be you and H:)
J'adore tes petites peintures. Tu vas me rendre jalouse ! :-)
DeletePracticing is such a wonderful way to look at doing those things we love. If you were to ask me, I would say you have mastered painting because you have captured the emotion of the moment. When I look at your creations I feel something. You are a wonderful artist. My husband is encouraging too, when he tastes a new recipe or looks at my photos. He is a great teacher and often recommends ways I could improve. Everyone needs a loving critic! Have a wonderful week :)
ReplyDeleteHe is right to encourage you:) Your photos and recipes ARE great.
DeleteI am very grateful to be with someone..who never says..why are you wasting your time on that?Every new craft etc..he always says good idea.
Mind you very honest too..I made hot cross buns that were like footballs and hamburger buns that were hockey pucks..I love to try NEW recipes all the time..sometimes I should just stick to tried and true:)
I love that GIF!! So sweet!
ReplyDeleteMe too Pam..Happy Easter!
DeleteYou are having so much fun, and your art is so sweet! Like everything you create, happy, joyful! So, Monique, I've decided, no new blog, I have returned to Sketchbook Wandering! And soon, a card to you...So many things I'm finally tending to...PS Carol's paintig of you is adorable, but not prettier than your photo which is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteGreat! Why start over when I loved it in the first place?:)
DeleteI love Carol's sketch/watercolor of me..
♥
Hi Monique, love your avatar and the card that says grandmothers are like antique girls, will have to remember that. Your watercolors are beautiful. Take care>
ReplyDeleteHi Cheri..I am still so disappointed your posts do not arrive to me..I am going to try a GMAIL address..THank you..see you soon..
DeleteLove, love, love your paintings. You have inspired me so :) I have picked up watercolor this past winter and I'm enjoying it so much. Seems like I find there are not enough hours in the day to watercolor. I admire your courage to tackle oil painting. It will be a long time before I try it, I'm enjoying watercolor too much. I don't draw faces, nor limbs just like you. They are so hard to paint but I know if I practice and practice, it will come around. Have a blessed Easter Monique to you and your family! :)
ReplyDeleteOh you will excel..I have seen your work..you will excel..for some reason..I have done 2 small watercolors..w/ just a new pad I love and I like them..but I find oil easier..just messier..watercolor is a breeze..water/color♥
DeleteOil..the cleaner..the oil..the paints ..but I like it..I just did one of a door in Italy..the perspective is wrong..Jacques likes it..Bev I hope you share your beautiful work!!
Happy Blessed Easter to you and you husband and family.
what a darling post. I love tea.
