Sunny, brilliant, Habanero Gold~

Years and years and years ago, on Gardenweb..a lovely lady named Annie shared her Habanero Gold Pepper Jelly recipe .
I started making it then..and am still making it now.In fact I shared it here in July 2009..
Faves never go out of style..
It's actually in Bernardin's Home Canning Book too so I will send you there..this time to switch it up a bit~

Here I mean:)

It is one of the easiest pepper jellies you will make..It is what I used for Sam's Pork with the Blueberry Peach Salsa.
Just remember you need to soak your apricots for at least 4 hours in the vinegar prior to making your batch..
So put them in at least 4 hours before you want to make your jelly.
One thing I love about this one is the color..the confetti look..and the piquant.
I also love that I can water bath them in a big casserole..no need for my big canning casserole that weighs a ton when full of water!:)
I ended up with 5 125 mls jars and a small Weck.
Many recipes call for hot pepper jelly..
so this is ideal..
I used a little less than 1 Jalapeno..I know it's Habanero..but they only had Jalapenos:)
Great on cheese..in savory thumbprints..the salsa..a variety of recipes..baked brie♥
Or on these little gems..  Parmesan,Polenta, and sage Madeleins~ found here  Butter and Brioche~it is adapted from a Donna hay recipe~
I tried adding a few tiny pansies..stick to the sage..
What a pretty blog!
Don't forget about this one either..the red pepper jelly I make every year and so does one of my daughters..
The latter is my family's favorite..but I love this spicier one also.
This is the time of year the wildflowers start to explode in our borrowed landscape as Derek would say~
I love walking out there when the sun is setting in front..as that creates a lovely little light..the grasses are high amidst the BeeBalm, Black Eyed Susans..etc etc..
My trusty camera around my neck the bees and butterflies ..just..stay.

PS my graphics are courtesy of The Graphics Fairy~.Always grateful:)

Have a good week♥

  1. The jelly is so pretty and I like your antique knife with the etched pattern. Have some like that too. They did such pretty details on silver years ago. My family would like your jellies. Can they keep long or be frozen? Thinking Christmas gifts? Wish I had such a pretty borrowed landscape. Derrick had such ways with a garden. Enjoy the week!

  2. Keeps forever in my opinion! I would think no problem till Christmas in a cool dry place..no freezing etc..Water bath though ..
The Bernardin site can surely reassure you:)

Derek was such a poet in his heart♥

  4. I love pepper jelly atop cream cheese with crackers. I'm going to try this as the jalapenos I grow don't make a hot enough jelly for my tastes.

  6. And I made it one year later :) We love the it. It is so good on a cracker with brie and in so many other recipes as you mention. The sage Madelines would be so perfect for Thanksgiving! I'm pinning them :)

You are ahead of me in the garden now! No Rudbeckia flowers here yet. I love how they brighten the fall landscape. I can't believe I just typed the f word! It feels like fall here today too.

  7. Your jam is gorgeous. Now you've reminded me that I haven't made any pepper jelly this summer. Shame on me! And my daughter just brought me red peppers and jalapeños from her garden, yeah!

  9. Your Habanero gold pepper jelly looks like sunshine in a jar. It would be great on cheese and crackers as an appetizer or as a gift to a favorite friend. And those adorable madeleines with the sage leaf are so pretty. I don't believe I've ever seen a savory one but I know I would love them as I don't have much of a sweet tooth.

  13. Oh my, I'd want to use those jeweled jars for decoration!! And, I do believe that M. Proust would approve those madeleines.

  15. This looks spectacular Monique....perhaps I will try it. I have a pepper plant full of jalapenos on my deck. I love that it is not an enormous batch!
It looks like little jars of sunshine!

  16. Love this jelly, I bought something like this before at Trader Joe's to put over cheese, would prefer to make it myself. Thanks!

  17. It does look like confetti, doesn't it. Reminds me of the joyous look of a champagne jelly I saw once. Can't figure out for the life of me how they did it because it had a galaxy of bubbles swirling through it. Magnificent.
Love pepper jelly in so many things. A personal favorite is on sausage biscuits.... NUM!

  18. That pepper jelly is gorgeous, Monique! I really must try this. And those madeleines....lovely, and so unusual. I do love savory cookies and these are so pretty.

  19. Will have to try this one although I'm somewhat of a novice in the canning department. Your garden is beautiful! It is hot and sultry here. My garden is struggling. We have been beach hopping or escaping to the mountains in NC as often as we can. A couple of weeks ago, we went to Sea Island. I thought of you, as I remember that you have been there:-)

Our daughter will be 39 I was carrying her..Spring 75..

Almost sounds like Summer of 42..Yikes..where have the years gone.
This is not really a canning recipe I find as it is quick..and really a stockpot can water bath the little pots.
I can just imagine how you would bottle them up:)

  24. A bite of spicy sweet jelly on the madeleines sounds wonderful. Your golden photos are beautiful as always and I love your pretty little knife. I agree with Terryk, they don't make beautiful things like that any more.
