U Try It~ I did ♥

I love Peter Rabbit~
I loved the movie about Beatrix Potter~
And I think I would have loved her~Beatrix Potter..I was amazed ,when I read the tale of Peter Rabbit to Noah this week he had no clue who PR was!
This from the child that has every book imaginable..
I think Peter is out of favor here in QC.
In fact Jacques had never heard of him before me..
He said Peter Rabbit was not part of his French culture growing up..
I am French but my parents were bilingual..so perhaps that is why I had heard of him..

I am easily infatuated by artistic people.
Much more so..than financial people.
Or very technical people.
I admire them..I am in awe of them..I married one..
But I actually fall a little bit in love ..in a different way..with artistic ,creative people..photographers,artists,musicians,chefs.
My mom was a true artist..thus the love affair~♥
And the little wannabe part of me.
But I am not loose enough..too organized..too tidy..can't relax if my immediate surroundings are not..en ligne.
I was not always like that..when I started dating my husband..much to the concern of my dad..but my mom's 100% approval..
my dad actually told my husband....:"Have a look at her room..you will need a compass to dierct yourself once you walk in."
It was true.
My room had a black wall, a white wall and some kind of psychadelic black and white wallpaper..a single bed against that wall..and some kind of furry black throw..
most of my clothes were on the floor..a whirlwind..
I was 19.And this was 42 years ago..
My mom did everything for me..I am ashamed to say..she even made my bed as I sauntered off to university.McGill.
Marrying an engineer..made me re- assess my habits..
I could tell you 100 funny..now they are.. stories..that actually made me cry 41 years ago..

But w/ the years..I became ..a tidy nut.
So the artist flew away.
That's why I love...artists..most of the ones I have met..and gotten to know..  don't care about tidy..I am not generalizing..these are the artists I have come to know..could be very different for the artists you know..
And my mom was super tidy..but she had left her art behind..so many years before I knew her.
I love the stuff everywhere.. the art room that has paint and paintboxes ..and canvases..and LIGHT everywhere.
Pastel dust here and there.. oil on the floor..cookbooks that have pages turned and dirty..art stuck to the walls.I just can't function that way.
Wondering if Beatrix was that inclined..

Speaking of artists..Amy at UTryIt~  made me fall in love w/ a little Easter cookie scene she created..
I knew I had to make some to pop into the boys baskets..I like making the things that go in their baskets..
These cookie vignettes..I am wrapping individually..They have their own stand after all.
I made my regular sugar cookies..I had Matcha..the sprinkles..everything..so I was good to go apart from the Lindt bunnies..I have a small silicone mold..but the bunnies were just a bit samller and I wanted to make them like Amy did.
Plus a Lindt at Easter.is like a Laura Secord treat at Easter~
I couldn't add a flower in the bunnies ear..nor could I add roses..they are BOYS after all as they like to tell me.
But I am thinking of dollying one up for Donella if I see her..  or I will ask Myène if Giu is now too old for these.
You can let your imagination run wild..
Amy was kind enough to even include a video..Amy THANK you for sharing these ADORABLE Easter treats with us..
I am paying it forward for those who would have missed these;)
Bon Weekend~

  1. Love this post today, Monique! I do find it more difficult to come up with age-appropriate Easter treats now that our grandson is nearing 12 years of age!:-)

You've such a good understanding of creativity/artistic bent/etc. There is no time for tidying up when the creative juices are flowing! There is more important work to be done!

I love Peter Rabbit, and have that same set of books here. Such delightful stories!

    Happy week-end!

Just tidying up my kitchen now..I have sprinkles and cello everywhere;)

  3. I am Marilyn SMISER from central Illinois. Sometimes I really do think we must share a birthday. I have followed your blog for quite awhile. You just get so much more accomplished than I do. However, today's post cinched it. I have those small Potter's books. Always felt they fit a child's hand. The other same interest is Paris. I read your comments on Parisbreakfast. I love your comments. Do not understand the French. I have been to Paris, met Carol Gillott and she did my portrait. There are other interests the same. I will not go into all. Love your blog.

I am happy to know we have similar tastes;)

I think they will like their baskets..the boys..all of them..when they come over..they right away look under the "cloches" to see what treat is there..so a basketful..might very well please them.
      Thank you Gloria~
      Happy Easter to you also!

  6. Just another thing we have in common! My bedroom was the same whirlwind until I met my Uber-organized German husband :) Your cookie scenes are just adorable, Monique, and quelle bonne idée! I am tempted too, of course. I do have an extra week to 'play' after Easter as we won't see our boys until the following weekend. When Lauren was born I was gifted a charming Peter Rabbit bowl and cup for her. I love the story of Peter Rabbit and Farmer Brown :). Everything you do is Cute, Cute! Your boys will love them!

  8. Adorable,Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit, I remember reading it to my daughter again & again, so many times I think she knew it off by heart, as she always knew if I skepped a bit, when I was in a hurry to dash off out to a party and say the baby sitter would read it to her, she used to say '' but she doesn't use different voices like you do '' I wish my grandsons here in France were still young like yours, they seem to have grown up so quickly, the youngest 15 yrs old came to visit us yesterday on his motor bike .... the other will be 18 soon & asked if could bring his girl friend to our house to meet me & Pops as they call Mr France. Enjoy your Easter together & keep them young as long as you can. Such a charming post, lovely words & pictures.

  11. How I wish I had more of a neat gene. Katherine has it at two! I have already been told that the ball that we use for my sister's dog is "dirty". I LOVE the bunny presentation and I am thinking I may improvise with store bought cookies because I have already made my sugar cookies. Going to make your carrot cake, decorate the sugar cookies and maybe make a Queen Victoria cake too to bring to dinner at my daughter's. Making Ricardo's bread tonight for tomorrow. Thanks for all your tips.

  12. I adore Beatrix Potter. A couple of years ago we holidayed in the Lake District in the UK and visited her little house that had been beautifully preserved. It was a dream come true. What an absolutely amazing place, and all down to her and her work to preserve the environment. A wonderful wonderful woman.

  14. I would have gotten here earlier but we have house guests for the week & I have to steal moments now and then for myself. Monique, the artist inside of you hasn't flown away. She's right here and you reveal her and her talents in every one of your posts. Our lives before marriage were very similar. My mother did everything including making my bed even though I would have been happy to do it myself. I think she was a perfectionist and thought she was the only one who could do it to her standards. Consequently I learned to do almost nothing until I married and had to either figure it out for myself or my husband taught me. But as a child I did learn to love Peter Cottontail. He's probably fallen out of favor here too. That's a big shame and I'm so glad you are introducing him to your grandchildren. Now he will live within their hearts forever.

Gotta go. I heard the timer in the kitchen. See you later.

So beautiful, especially Windemere. I have never been able to get into the house however, as it is always too busy. Have enjoyed the museum in Sawrey though. Your thoughts on art verses finances make me think of Le Petit Prince...Les grandes personnes aiment les chiffres...These reflections are on my mind too..I am in the tidying end of modes these days...If too disorganized, I can't get anything done! You do seem to thrive, to find your freedom of expression well, wherever you see yourself in your process...I like the mix of your finance husband and artist you...perhaps it is a balancing thing. I know what you mean re. en ligne helping to organize. I too love Peter R and Potter, though it was scary to me as a child how he got in trouble in the garden. I'll send you some titles of books I like about Potter. The movie was wonderful. Your post here has something for everyone!

  30. We artistic types seem to do well with the engineer types I would say. Funny, but my Mother did everything for me too. She kept her kitchen to herself and turned out delicious food. When I attempted to cook, she was right over my shoulder checking it all out to be sure I did it right. Years later, when she broke her arm right before Thanksgiving, I had to prepare the entire meal for our huge family gathering to her specifications. We laughed a lot in spite of the fact that every other word out of my mouth was " Yes Mom". Love your Peter Rabbits. I bought my Son those lovely little books.
