Worthy of making~

The above app is delicious..this is my jam while still warmish..the next day I made the Jam/Pesto/Whipped Ricotta pots and the consistency was perfect..I spoon out the jam and place on top..a cute little baby basil leaf would have been ideal..but alas none so no deco:)
My daughter served us this twice..and then I craved it.
That says it all..she used store bought pesto..and I would too but I have oodles since my last summer's basil harvest.I wonder if I will have wonder basil again?
A note I cooked my jam longer.

The recipe can be found here.

With home grown tomatoes..I bet it will be even better if at all possible:)My daughter served hers on crisped bread..We just had it on regular ..both are good.
Might start seeds this coming week..I am holding off till April;)

This was very good too:)

It was J's birthday on the 24th and we went to our daughter's where we had that app:)
I brought 2 desserts and they were gone in an instant no leftovers..
So I made Jacques  a Boston Cream Pie and it is perfect..moist sponge albeit I have some  confessions.
I love grocery stores in France..We live on Bonne Maman jams and yogurts and desserts while visiting because I don't bake there.
But I also come home with other goodies..
One of them..well I bought 2..was Dr Oetker Ancel pastry cream mix.
Heaven.
Of course I can't get it here:(
Next..my glaze..I should have let it cool longer.
some puddled at the base.
No complaints and moist still:)
The recipe is Here.

I think I have next fall covered;) One for a certain gentleman in my life and another for us.Lovely sale at Michael's~
Have a lovely weekend~

  1. Taking a break from all of my preparations for tomorrow's fete. I am looking forward to trying the finished app tomorrow! I think it will be a hit. After my first attempt at making the jam turned out runny I Googled other tomato jam recipes and found they were cooked far longer so put mine back on the stove this morning and now I am a happy jammer :) I can't wait for tomato season but I don't want to rush summer. Can't wait to see the first little blooms. I have daffodil leaves poking through and signs of scilla.
Anticipate is the best! Would you believe Bostom Creme Pie was one of the very first desserts I attempted as a young teen? Out of my mother's Better Crocker cookbook...also made Creme Puffs and Chocolate Fudge from that cookbook ♥ My 13-year-old repertoire - LOL. You are all set for fall, and a beautiful selection! Bon Weekend, PIAP :)

    1. Instead of Pipa..:) PIAP:)♥
I did make a few in my 45 yr career;)..One definitely a mix..I think my mom made it from a mix..and then a few not that succesful..this ne I could serve and be happy.
Jacques loves cream puffs..all those kinds of desserts.
The cake will last the week..
Yes I did cook it longer I always hesitate to say I needed longer because ..well often it's just me..but 8 times out of 10 ..baking or cooking..I need more time.
I have NOTHING poking..nothing..Where J snowblows paths..yes I see stones and mud and dead grass..but our whole property is still winterlude..
I wish you a beautiful weekend..triple celebration.. and as Nancy always wishes us..And all the peace and love.

  2. Dearest Monique,
That jam looks so good and your photos are class.
LOVE your different colored grape tomatoes, always a joy for the eye.
Oh, I've chased so many things from Dr. Oetker that I used to carry in my suitcase home until I finally gave up on it. Also due to the restrictions in weight but for heaven's sake: 'WHY not available on this end of the Atlantic?'
Your baking looks great. I've attempted a chocolate cake yesterday, au bain Marie kind of dough, lots of work. Than covering with Lindt chocolate squares over mascarpone cream with orange liquor (my version instead of whipped cream...) dusted with cocoa and topped off with Cape Gooseberries in-between the chocolate checkerboard.
The recipe is in Dutch: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/375980268890511240/
I was telling my Pieter yesterday, no wonder that fine pâtisserie can be so pricy in Europe. Ingredients add to that and all the special handling.
But we love to make our loved ones happy and spoiling them...!
    Hugs,
    Mariette

And I am not a a person who indulges..but when a Lindt has to cross my palate.I am grateful.
I can get some Dr Oetker things here but not that creme pat:(
Ingredients..are quite $$ when you make the best ..that is for sure.
But they are worth it these people we love..you are so right.
Bon weekend and Kudos on the cake!

  9. That appy looks so delicious. Your presentation is flawless. That top photo with the background with the Italian Nonna in the background. It tells a story and makes me want to dig in and spread some of that delicious looking dip on the bread. I can almost taste it, the colours of the Italian flag. I need to try that tomato jam! I will pick up some cherry tomatoes this week hopefully. Your garden tomatoes from last year were beautiful. . . the colours were amazing. I love also the colours of your yarn. I always crochet while I am watching the television. Somehow I don't feel like I am being too lazy when my hands are busy! Happy Sunday! xoxo PS - Looked for the Dr Oetker cream filling on amazon here, but no go. Your cake looks beautifully tasty! I love LOVE Boston Cream Pie!

  13. I saw that delicious tomato jam recipe on Instagram but didn’t realize you also made Jacques a bostoncream pie. Gerarda requested that or strawberry shortcake for her birthday, now I’m thinking maybe I’ll do the Boston crem pie. I made one a few years back for her birthday from Joy of Cooking I think. I will need to do the cream filling from scratch though. I guess I could make the cake ahead and freeze? I’ll read the link, Sally has good tips on doing things in advance. Her bday falls on April 19 so we will have bday/Easter celebration that weekend. Also Chris is April 18. I’m planning on making the bunny cake too for Ms. Lillian, the bunny girl.
