It's frightening how quickly we go from snowdrops and scillas to tulips to Iris to peonies to roses to clematis.
The speed of LIGHT.
Tumbling one over the other..
It would be so nice if things hung on a tad more.
We are expecting rain tomorrow:)
Alleluia.
Right now..I just came in for sparkling water ..
It is 110 F on my back deck..a little over 40 C..as I type..I was working on my tomatoes..and I am not a sweater..but in this heat my head dampens and sweat pours into my eyes..and they burn..so in I am.
I should wear a hat.
I wear sunscreen..no hat:(
I feel like I just took photo 3..the peonies were buds..they are alsmos.. quite nearly there..done now.
See what I mean?
My son-in-law invited J to go to PA with him and 3 of our grandsons..for a Football event at Beaver stadium.
They left Tuesday at one and got back yesterday around 5.30 PM.
Ages..13..16..17..50..and 82.;)
And he loved it.
I hope I am as fit as my husband at 82.
To follow the family..and enjoy every minute..:)
J shared a room with Lucas the 17 yr old.
Max..16 could not participate because his cast just came off..Oli..could..his first time at 13.
Memories to last a lifetime:)
Love that they did this.
Made some muffins..before he went away..coffee cake..nothing to write home about lol.
I like my other recipes better.
I discovered I eat like a bird when my husband is away:)
It's been yrs since he has been away without me..
So yes.. I ate mostly bread lol..focaccia..broccoli..nothing I cooked..eggs..
Back to normal now.
Have a great weekend..it is a long one here.
Those poppies are heavenly!!!!!!That peachy coral color is just gorgeous! Thanks for the photo. Carol in Texas…..it’s hot here too!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI heard!! Stay cool!!I love those too:) And I love them more now..when the leaves turn brown and crumple..back of the border:)
DeleteBeautiful color, whites, that cottage! Lovely, lovely, V.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Bon weekend!
DeleteHow quickly your garden catches up to mine. I think we are in sync now. 110 degrees??? Yikes. It's been uncommonly cool and for the first time ever we have not needed the ac all through May and even up to now.
ReplyDeleteFar cooler today..71F! We do catch up but at the beginning..I envy your earlier Spring:)
DeleteLove your ces't la vie sign. You must have painted it. And your little cottage. Do you keep your gardening supplies in there? The muffins look good. The paper cups are cute. Sounds like the men in your family had a good bonding experience. My husband didn't like going places with out me either...even on business trips when he had the opportunity to do and see many exciting things. He would say, " next time I go I will take you with me and we will do it together." Of course next time never came. It's 90 degrees today. Balconville need lots of attention. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhen my husband could take me he would it was rare..The first yrs..nice little trips I was too young to appreciate.)Yes I keep garden things in there..and J keeps his in the back part.I dry my garlic in there too.I didn't paint it..a favored artists here makes and sells them.My front fence sign she did also.I love her work .2 artists here..? Love their work.Have a great Balconville weekend Ga:)
DeleteYour garden is so lovely Monique. Seems like the heat has hit everywhere. Our family came for Father’s Day so we were thankful to have a pool and the beaches nearby. Baseball in the summer - Jim loves it as well. We have gone to one game here and will go to Boston in August for another. All the Best to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteThis was a football school event.:) My boys are football and basketball..a dear friend her boys are baseball and hockey:) Your home must be paradise.I know it.Cheers:) xoxo
Delete110 degrees--oh my! And to think that you're working in those temps. Your beautiful garden reflects all your effort and love, tho. That arbor with the pink roses and those poppies...incredible. I'm glad that you're going to get rain. We are in a drought, so we must water. Glad I didn't plant too much this year. It's wonderful that the men of your family got away for some fun. Going away always makes us appreciate home more.
ReplyDeleteThat is so true..He said it's lovely here:) Hotels motels and asphalt will do that to you.But the company he kept ..the memories..that glow will last a lifetime:):):
DeleteOMG 110, you must be melting. Our weather has been crazy this year. First hot, then cold. June has been up and down with temps. No swimming in the pool yet, but hot tubbing, he’s. So glad J got away with the guys. How fun they must have been. I do relish some quiet time to myself. The muffins look so pretty in their paper sleeves. Happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend to you too:)Hot tubbing is perfect..soon you will swim!
DeleteI saw the photo of the five of them on IG. Such a wonderful memory for the boys and adults. I'm happy your guy is so healthy, eager to travel and be active.
ReplyDeleteWhat is with the 110º? That's Texas weather!!!!! Your garden reflects a sense of calm and cool though. Your blooms are gorgeous. The color of those poppies!!!!
Stay cool, and yes, please wear a hat! Have a great weekend.....
He has things..as you know..but never complains.. I am so glad he went and moreso that everyone had a great time.I thought Fred was stellar inviting J..Memories to last a lifetime.Jacques loves them all so very much. Its raining ..lightly..and I am not mad;)
DeleteOh, my Goodness!! 110?? That was MY life, for all the forty-something years we lived in the Mississippi Delta. That white arch-to-anywhere, the cool sanctuary of the fairy fern, the music from the dainty lavender bells---what a path to walk with First Cup every morning! And those cosmos, with their crinkly petals like the crepe paper decor of all our 1950s parties---I can feel those crisp crinkles as I string festoons for a Sock Hop, a birthday swag, a parade float encrusted with school colors. And that enticing small cottage in the garden---so many ideas, so many imaginary parties and sleep-overs and afternoon teas.
ReplyDeleteEchoing pleas to Stay as cool as your KEWL image amongst all your fans.
:) Always a treat to read you:) Always..:)Thank you!
DeleteYour gardens are beautiful Monique. I love the muffin papers as well. So pretty! How very wonderful that J was able to go with the boys to football camp! I think the secret to staying youthful is to stay active. Kudos to him! What a blessing! A lovely post as always. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI was thrilled for him.More thrilled that his son-in-law invited him and that the boys love his company. So many cute pics i saw Marie:)I am grateful it wasn't as hot as here:)I saw a doctor..on TT that said.. even if you are thin..but aren't active..you are not healthier than an active overweight person.I guess the secret is to keep moving..But sometimes I make a false move lol and feel vewy old.Have a nice weekend :)xo
DeleteWhat a wonderful 'guys' trip for J! Lindsay and Bob are with their boys in Iowa at the "Field of Dreams"! Remember the movie with Kevin Coster? Mack and Dane are both playing baseball there. It's been very warm here but not that hot! Air quality alerts every day also....from the wildfires still! I can't imagine how much land has been torched in Canada. So sad. Those poppies are soooo gorgeous! I feel the same way...can't our favorites last a little longer? So many beauties already bloomed and finished. Looking forward to seeing my first zinnias from seed bloom and the dahlias, so anticipation is still there :) I love muffins as much as you! So tasty looking! ♥♥
ReplyDeleteI do remember Field Of dreams..and who can forget KC..more uncertain times ahead for him.I even remember his last divorce.Must be very very hard to be such a great actor and so handsome.Loved him in Yellowstone.7 children..He seems like a nice guy to me..But then again his character on Yellowstone is an influencer lol.
DeleteAll the way to Iowa for a game?About 5 hrs? Wow..I know Fred drove over 9 each way but for trainings..It's part of their summer holidays:)I love that our boys love sports.. I love even if they don't:)xox
Lindsay and Bob both love baseball too so I think they're fine with the drive. Luckily most of the regular games are only less than an hour away from their home. This was a special event for the team. Lindsay played softball in high school. She played first base, Mack does too ♥ I think team sports are great for kids. So much comaraderie!
DeleteSo much:) Soso much:)How cute she played.. when my girls started soccer. They put their hands in their pockets and watched lol:):) Not sporty girls..I am not either though.
DeleteTime does move so fast. Too fast. My 'grandbabies' are grown and some gone on to married lives and children of their own. What a great trip for all your guys. I was born and raised in PA and have soft spot in my heart for that part of the country. I hope you have a blessed week- xo Nana Diana
ReplyDeleteOh dear:) A privilege though to see all that happen:)We love our Littles so much don't we? In a heartbeat they grow up.I wish you a great week also:)
DeleteYour garden is so beautiful and green! Yes, time flies...too fast...
ReplyDeleteLove from Titti
Have a great week!
DeleteThose poppies are to die for! I eat better without Rick, too. Because he burns up the carbs so fast, he loves pasta and with him, I just have too much. Headed north this week -- sometimes with, sometimes without Rick when he rides. Maybe I'll actually lose a bit of weight! What a concept!
ReplyDeleteYou look great..I hear you I watch too..:) Its a habit since a teen..Maybe the bullying paid off..not.ever.did.anyone.say.that.
DeleteHave a great time!
It is amazing how fast things change in your climate! Hard to comprehend..no printemps? Parisbreakfast
ReplyDeleteLe jour et la nuit! Trop vrai..mais nickel!
DeleteSounds like a fun trip! :)
