Citron/Lemon

I do enjoy tiktok ..as well as IG ..I find lovely recipes on both..

I enjoy lemon..in warm water..or mixed with ginger..in my green tea.. in cookies..bars..loaves.. and curd.
I came upon a beautiful recipe on TikTok..
It is more creamy..
I put the ings on this watercolor..

You juice your 3 lemons and put in a pot..add the sugar..the 3 eggs..mix and cook on low heat continuously whisking ..until  it all looks amalgamated and ready... then drop in the room temp butter..and incorporate very well..
This is the magic..put in a blender and blend blend blend..
I will add in the link for the visual:)
Here it is..

Then you can make little shortbread tarts and fill with the cream..
The shortbread tarts are made from a recipe I gleaned form Ann Thibault..  I then just put a dollop in the tart.. and some lavender pearls( totally  not necessary). This isn't the filling on Ann's post..this is the cream of lemon..softer that curd..different..Love it.
A sprig of mint will be pretty when it's coming out of my ears ;)

We have had mild weather with geese arriving and snow melting like an ice cube in warm water..but today with one hour lost..the snow has returned.. March is never steady. However we are way ahead of ourselves..

Meanwhile I have been painting bunnies..
A real copycat:)This first one I did a few years ago..

When you step into Le Louvre..I noticed some female artists at easels..copying great masters works..To me..this is an exercise in observation. And a charming way to spend a rainy afternoon.:)

Have a lovely week..hope the change in time doesn't affect you too too much:)

  1. That lemon cream looks different and delicious! Grateful for my knowledge of the French language, lol. It looks wonderful in those sweet tart shells, and as always I love your art. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery! Everything is beautifully presented as always with your wonderful artist's eye! You do this so well. I am always in awe of you! xo

  2. How I love the thought of "sunny days" and your first picture nearly warmed me up. We're freezing (again), but I know spring is coming. I even spied those reddish peony spikes pushing through heavy frost. Thank you for the recipes for lemon tarts. I think they'd be a hit for Easter. Love your bunny paintings! So charming. Always love seeing your posts, Monique!!!

  3. So many delicious recipes to make with lemons. I used to make a pretty good lemon merengue pie. Enjoyed your copy cat bunnies. I have a few of Beatrix Potter’s figurines. Always wanted to visit the Lake District . Did you watch All Creatures Great and Small? So glad it has been renewed for 2 more seasons! Speaking of watching, did you watch the Academy Awards? Unfortunately I did not see and of the films and this time I did know most of the actors. Sorry for the disjointed rambles. Have a wonderful week Monique.🍋🐇

    1. I like disjointed:) We're having a conversation..So..I loved ACGAS.And am happy it is renewed also.I just wish Mr Farnon would realize he adores Mrs Hall.:) The Oscars? I watched the last hour in bed on my Ipad..Younger..much younger say 50 plus yrs ago I watched with my childhood friend..then with my girls..then I lost interest kind of..as we don't go to movies..but with the advent of streaming and being able to watch movies much sooner than before..my interest is there.I didn't see John Cena in his underpants..but did see some interesting tidbits..I loved Bradley Cooper in Maestro and was bored to tears at Oppenheimer yet it keeps winning everything.Cillian Murphy is such a good actor..both were IMHO.I really enjoyed Holdovers but it didn't stand a chance against a big blockbuster.Robert Downey..has sure come a loooong way UP:).I have a couple of BP figurines too..A kid I am in some parts of my heart:) Are they useful? No ..Are they charming to me..yes:)So I understand you having some:) I only have 2 I think:)

  4. These are so sweet, Monique. I have a yen to paint bunnies (or for that matter, anything) soon. I've been so obsessed with the basement (and the fact that the dining table is loaded with china and serving pieces) that I haven't picked up a brush in far too long. But I found a wonderful vintage Beatrix collection of posters I bought in England fifty years ago and thought they would be a good "subject." So, maybe soon. I love your versions just as much! The lemon looks wonderful and I've saved the links. How refreshing for an Easter dessert!

  6. I'm glad you're enjoying mild weather. Us too except for the brutal March winds we have today. But joy of joys, crocus and daffodils are opening already. I am going to a painting class at our library today. Not sure what sort of paint but we will have guided instruction to paint a daffodil.

  8. Giddy with delight as I scroll through your paintings of Peter. You know I admire your talent, but I also admire that you live with such a joyful heart. How lucky we all are to get to read La Table de Nana with all it's charm beginning to end. Happy Spring!

  9. Perfect timing, I have lemons I want to use up so I can buy more :-) Just watched the Tik Tok, and it looked yummy when he ate it off the spoon. We just returned from a few days of mountain hiking, and the weather was beautiful on day one....by day three we woke up to 7" of snow and no power at midnight but the generator kicked on. Power was out for 15 hours. Today is going to be sunny and 60.

  10. Lemon and chocolate...my two faves! This lemony cream looks fabulous and so cute in the shortbread cups. Do you think it's thick enough to eat on it's own with berries or do you think it needs a baked vessel like the shortbreads? Your Peter Rabbit paintings are stinkin' cute! I like to have a image or still life to draw from too. I wish I could just dream things up on my own! First flowers blooming here!!! Started popping out yesterday in the 60sF weather we've had the past two days. I'm sure we'll get snow again too...March is too fickle to have weather like this last for long. :)

  11. I,too, loved Masters of the Air. We owe so much to that generation! They also made a brief (1 or 1 1/2 hour) documentary about the group of flyers in the movie, with a few pics of the major characters, well worth watching .
