The beauty of my town~

I went for a walk yesterday morning~ Some trees are prime some fading..

All our charming restaurants are closed for business apart from takeout. So instead of posting commercial stops w/ people w/ masks at take out..I concentrated on nature.

And we have CHARMING restaurants.I feel so bad for them.Open/close/open/close.

Last week another movie was shot here..it happens a lot..

Years ago this tourist town bustled with small shops.. then a huge city developed close by w/ mega stores and box stores..and the quaint bookshop let..the beautiful iconic clothing store left..I could name you stores many don't even know existed because I have been in the area over 40 yrs..many have spent their lifetime here..like my daughters.

Online shopping happened..

But we have special stores we will never do without.. hardware and food..specialty food and pharma.Doctor's offices and dentists.

A yacht club..

We once had a small movie theater..I saw Saturday Night Live there..then it was a fruit and veggie shop ..now a bicycle/spa place.

A cute clothing store..a specialized British Shop..Paint shop.. 4 churches at least:)

Cafés ♥

3 thrift shops.

2 libraries.

Real Estate Offices..

It is a movie scene..and I get to live in it.

It's not Provence..:) But it's home sweet home.

Wide open spaces..green..water..fresh air..

After dinner I went for another walk..

What's beyond?

Far better I hope for everyone♥

Meanwhile..I will thank God I live here. And will appreciate it while I can.

Take care everyone.

  3. So pretty and peaceful, and those are the things we need to concentrate on now. The beauty of nature. I would love to play golf on that course...your borrowed landscape. I can see the cart path pull off for the green :) The blue sky is gorgeous and the trees are on fire. We aren't nearly at peak yet. Probably next week. Dodged another frost warning so my flowers are still blooming. Yay!

  4. You are so right. You live in a very beautiful place and the colors and photos are amazing. I feel fortunate to live where I do and love my town, but it has been so warm here that we are barely seeing any change in the fall colors. They may never in California, as soon the rains and wind will come and they will all be gone before they even get a chance to start. So sad what is happening to our world, but we must enjoy it while we can..Stay well..xxoJudy

Heart breaking when they have to close, then open and close again. Most of our restaurants are open with social distancing. Take care.

  7. I think it sounds charming and your color is so very beautiful. What glorious trees and scenery. So many small towns saw the farewell of small businesses as big box stores and malls opened up nearby. It's very sad. I suspect you hprobably have better restaurants than our city does -- and I wonder what will be left after Covid. I'm so glad you took us on this wonderful walk. It's lovely to see where you live. (Did you paint that harbor? I think I've seen that before as a watercolor or something close!)

  8. I can feel you need to be uplifted. You live in a spectacular part of the world and missing the fun and interesting activities of the past is heartbreaking. I kick myself for not taking that trip last year, or going to a museum or restaurant...who knew it would be snatched away along with our everyday way of life? I feel the younger ones are are getting bored and being much more reckless and with the cold weather coming soon, they will be with friends indoors, without caution, and the virus will spread much more. I know my adult children are around more and more people and not always wearing masks. My husband and I wear masks on the few occasions they stop by. Maybe when one of their friends gets the virus and tells them how godawful it is, they will be more vigilant. I think they just don't want to continue being stuck inside---but who does? Sigh...

    Take care,

    Jane😘

    1. I want to be uplifted for the world.Frankly we really don't go out except for family and groceries and the family part has stopped..no visits inside since March..so this looming cold weather means ..not even a visit out back ..
I am surprised at my Province and thought we would do much better.
We're so polite lol I thought people would listen.
We do groceries now..since masks are mandatory..but early early and briefly briefly.
We're not museum goers nor resto goers..
I think in some cases we become our husbands lol.
Wo knows if I would have done more things.
Very grateful for the trips we did take..and our routine trips too..
I have become a real homebody.
It's funny my life changed on a dime a little over 10 yrs ago..maybe it was preparatory work for this;)
Take care Jane and your cute cute family!

  9. You live in a really beautiful spot! My father remembers being there a long time ago and how beautiful it was. I think we are all starting to feel a bit down because of this virus. It is becoming more difficult to remain positive. Hang in there. It won’t always be like this. (((((( hugs))))) there is sure to be a vaccine discovered soon! Soon this will al be just a bad memory. That’s what I keep telling myself anyways! ❤️❤️❤️

  10. How absolutely wonderful!!!! Is that a river or a lake and is it in walking distance? I always thought that truly lucky people have gratitude...For me, wearing the mask, and worrying about other people's masks is stressful. So I don't go to shops the way I used to. More time outdoors is nice...and walks...
I too am starting to feel weary because of the virus...and upset about the chaos in US government...

  11. I wish our trees has gorgeous colors. They just turn from green to brown and fall off. They could make an effort.
