Soul Food #46~

No words needed~♥

I saw a movie once w/ a client that became an aquaintance that became an ephemeral friend~

~
One True Thing~

It is still one of my top 5 favorite movies of all my lifetime..(That is a long time:) )

When we left the cinéma.. My friend said to me.. :"My daughters would never look after me..take care of me.. care for me this way~ Never."

I was saddened by her thoughts after this movie..because I felt quite the opposite the whole movie.
I felt...That my daughters.. each in their own way.. would be the best caregivers like Renée... If need be~
Another Meryl Moment~♥
“Always keep that happy attitude. Pretend that you are holding a beautiful fragrant bouquet.”

  1. Oh Monique that is also one of my favorites and one of the hardest for me to watch without crying for most of the movie. The movie was filmed in New Jersey not far from where I live...
    Beautiful post...have a happy Monday.

  5. I've seen this movie but it must be wonderful if it's among your 5 all-time favorites.

I love the quote and it is something I strive to do...positively ;)

  7. I have wanted to see this movie and haven't...some things just slip through our fingers. What a warm and wonderful feeling to know that your children (and your grandchildren, I'm sure) will always be there for you. I am fortunate to share that feeling (no grandchildren yet, though). I am sad for those whose circumstances are otherwise.

Thanks for the reminder about the movie and for another slice of soul food.

  8. I also loved this film. I know deep inside that my daughter and sons will do whatever is necessary to care for me when that time comes. I did that for my mother ~ and it was deeply fulfilling (and at times most difficult) for me.

  9. I haven't seen this yet, but mean to soon.
I wondered if your friend meant not that her daughters wouldn't want to take care of her, but that it would be difficult with their own families and jobs to take care of.
That's what I think. I know my children love me, but one owns her own business, another has a large family and the last one works nights. It would be really difficult for them to give up more than a couple days at a time. And they live all over the country. Travel expenses alone would be prohibitive.
You can tell I have thought this problem out as I have gotten older!

  10. Hi Barbara..I'm at the office ..a quiet moment..

The reason I was saddened is because I knew she was right..at that time.. hopefully w/ the years they have changed.. but back then..I knew she was right.

Not at all like your case..

I promise..and no judging here..Just not having had a mom for such a long time..it just feels great to know that I could count on them ..they live so close..Even if would only be a friendly ear to listen:)
